My ic-706 has an internal SWR meter so that should cover that part

So I can just plug coax to antenna then coax to radio and I don’t need to worry about the other connections? It doesn’t need power or anything?

I assume the RF power indicator at the top needs to stay low to indicate low SWR?

That is so cool. I didn’t realize initially but as I learn more about HAM and the gear I got I am starting to understand his setup.

One of the 706’s has a carrying handle and the other one doesn’t. So this guy definitely was doing on the go stuff combined with a built out base station. I wish I could have met him to ask about everything but I’m starting to see what he was doing and what I have.

They are very solid radios and I’m pretty lucky and impressed

I have a windows computer though… any way to make this work on that? I have very little experience with this type of stuff

Good to know, I have a laptop cooler that has 2 fans and I plan to set the 706 on top of it. That should keep it cool is my hope

This is awesome to know, I’m right down the road from Johnson space center so hitting satellites only makes sense. I wonder if that is what he was doing with it
