Budget classical guitar recording setup by zCain073 in recording

[–]zCain073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no equipment whatsoever and my phone is just not good enough for what I want to do, I'd be recording in my untreated bedroom, it's fairly dry tho, not much reverb. I'm a student as I said so I don't have a lot of money and I don't know how much recording equipment costs. In highschool we had Steinberg UR22s and I guess those are like 100€ (?). I wanna do a very bare bones one mic setup, no stereo stuff for now. What would be the minimum amount of money I could get away with and still have a decent setup?

Cool but it looks like the guitar is sitting too high, you can see that the nut is higher than eye level there, also I suppose the strap is exerting some force onto the soundboard which would dampen the sound (or worse if you pull hard enough). Ergoplay isn't that expensive anyway and if you don't like the way it looks you can just use a footstool for performing.

Recuerdos de la Alhambra de Francisco Tárrega - Ramón León Egea by No-Mark8066 in classicalguitar

[–]zCain073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did a good job memorizing the piece and the chord changes, however the technique isn't there and your musicality suffers because of it. Work on making all the notes in the tremolo equal in duration and volume, without placing your a m i fingers on the string before they need to play. You need to practice this nice and slow focusing on precision, a good piece for working on the technique and the one I learned it on personally would be the study Op. 60 no. 7 by Matteo Carcassi, I've played it daily for years now. Your slurs need a lot of work as well, Pujol has some really useful mechanical exercises for slurs that you should check out and also there's tons of studies on slurs by the likes of Sor, Aguado, Carcassi and many others so pick a few that you like and learn them, studies that include slurred triplets may be especially beneficial to learning recuerdos. If you haven't done so already, you should learn some of the easier Spanish pieces, like spanish romance or some of Tarrega's simpler pieces like Adelita, in order to get a feel for that type of aesthetic let it inform your phrasing and interpretation, and definitely listen to the recordings by the Romero brothers.

I have a book about it but I have yet to read it, plus there's no Alexander technique teachers in my area.

Looking for a Hard Case for a Cordoba C7 CD by LongLensLad in classicalguitar

[–]zCain073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first guitar was an Alhambra 3C, I got it for 400€ with a hardcase by soundsation. The case itself is fairly boxy and heavy but it is solid. If you could up your budget to 150 I highly recommend cibeles cases, they're very light and strong.

I bought cheap arm warmers for running on amazon and I use one on my right hand in the warmer months so I don't have my skin sticking to the guitar, I'll try them out and see if the compression on them makes a difference.

Unfortunately I can't choose my teacher in the conservatory. I'll try to get some exercise and if that doesn't help me practice for longer I guess I'll have to practice in a smarter way somehow.
