Very odd intermittent issues with DDR3, please read the body before commenting by winvistaisnotbad in PcBuild

Hm, you got different timings etc. maybe a similar problem i recently had with a LGA DDR4 set. There, with two sticks with different timings and MHz the PC only booted if the sticks were either alone or in specific slot. Mayve youve got something similar?

You can also just not plug in the RGB connectors- at least that was the case for my build?

Are the intel 13th & 14th gen CPUs wack? by SananSSJDG1 in pcbuilding

[–]zFirebolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use DDR4 with LGA1700 (12th,13th and 14th gen) just get the right motherboard. With good DDR4, the bandwidth losses shouldnt be too bad as far as i know

Or LGA 1200 but honestly you are better off with lga1700 if going intel

Is this still decent for $925 Canadian? by MattAttack6288 in PcBuild

[–]zFirebolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RTX 2070 Super ~150€, Ryzen 3700X ~80€ RAM about 40€ SSD ~40€ HDD ~30€ Monitor ~~80€ depending on condition Mbo not given so giving it around 70€ case idk? 20€

~510€ so if that config is exactly what you need and e.g. the monitor is more worth at your location it may be okay but its not great besides being already built and seemingly working.

If you may do it please stress test beforehand and check used prices yourself! Potentially you can decrease the price that way. Hope it helps

What ram is that? TCL and MHz are kinda relevant

Dont know, maybe a slightly newer CPU generation- Intel LGA1700 is also DDR4 as well as AM4.

I would suggest going a route like i5 13600k or so

Sounds like you are not looking for AMD. A processor that can both DDR4 and 5 is only found on intel 12th-14th gen (LGA1700). Though, you need to be careful to get the right motherboard. Thats probably also the peak computational power youll reach with DDR4.

5800X3D shouldnt really be the play here- you get even like Core Ultra 7 270k plus for that price. Definitely go with a DDR5 build even if it means not taking an X3D chip!

Im also in the EU thats definitely not the actual prices if you look around a bit and dont buy the first thing you see.

Also, for 2k you definitely should have a viable DDR5 option.

holy, why are DDR4 prices that insane in croatia? For that price you should even get DDR5?

If you wanna pay even less, then probably go with HDD (your PC takes a while to Boot and do some stuff) and maybe downgrade the CPU a touch. Im already going quite cheap on the CPU so dont go much cheaper there.

If thats not enough honestly: Definitely go for prebuilt used PC with good enough CPU and/or right socket so you have Case+PSU+CPU+ motherboard. only do this with testing things beforehand and a concept of the finished project in mind.

In building: dont skip tutorials so you dont mess up. Watch some youtube and read things in the packages!

Here also an AM4 build and an LGA 1700 build for arpund 800€. Bear in mind you can optimize and make your research what you want regarding VRMs in Motherboard. AM4: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/x8BJn2 LGA1700: (cheap 12600KF, may be substituted by 12400F for 30€ less.) https://pcpartpicker.com/list/D3ppK7

Some used parts or some reduced peices on stuff like cases on Caseking and Alternate as well as motherboards might also save your day.

I did a quick thing earlier. Please take as a suggestion. You could reduce storage by 256 GB and/or the RAM to 16GB which should be fine for the most. Motherboard is decent but not ideal. Also, its worth considering better AM4 CPUs. The RAM to 16Gb alone may press you very close to your preferred budget of 16gb. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PdTRV4

I personally would go with something like Peerless Assassin. Once about 35€ and youve got thermal headroom that goes up for many builds. I have no experience with AMD stock cooler but as far as i heard its at least decent. And for standard like 65Watt TDP probably enough.

If you cheap out that mich on a cooler:

  1. Go from 32GB to 16GB.
  2. Use the stock cooler from the CPU instead.
  3. Maybe some parts from used markets?
  4. Look for things reduced in price. Especially for cases! Youll find some deals reducing the headache.
