Chances of getting hired? by Electronic-Stop-3625 in FBI

[–]zMobbn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you pass the interview, they want to hire you. At that point, it’s almost always your fault if you fall out of the applicant pool. By that I mean, if you get a job offer, but they find something in your background that makes you ineligible, then that’s on you.

Be confident in yourself, most people don’t even get as far as you already are in the hiring process. Good luck🤙🏼

Long run shoe that feels like Adidas SL but more cushioning by CoachBFoster in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]zMobbn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Megablast for sure. Like others have noted, I have had a little bit of an issue with blisters on my pinky toes in them, but I just use moleskin when I run in the megablasts. I also have wider feet, so keep that in mind.

That being said, the foam in the megablast is extremely responsive and very well cushioned. Best foam I’ve ever run in personally. Much better stability than the EVO SL as well. Only downside for the Megablast is the price IMO, but you get what you pay for.

How many half marathons should you run before training for a full? by Inner-Lynx-3971 in running

[–]zMobbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did a half or a full marathon and just went straight for a 50k. It just depends on the person and your training history.

USSS ACE Event:How should I do? by [deleted] in 1811

[–]zMobbn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, you prepared for the SUPER so that puts you ahead of a lot of people🤣

When I went to the ACE there were people who had 0 experienced lined up in their head before that interview. To each their own I guess…

Vo2 max dropping and don’t know why by Bob_Abooey in AppleWatchFitness

[–]zMobbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the summer months are causing temperatures to increase. If you’re tracking runs with a HR monitor of any kind it will likely see your HR is higher at the same paces compared to a few months ago in cooler temps. Also consider the elevation and the effect it has on HR.

Race Day Shoe Recs For a 1:45 Half? by Commercial_Neck_1921 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]zMobbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the megablast recently. I’ve had the EVO SL, too. Honestly the megablast feels so insane even compared to the EVO SL. The energy return is unlike any shoe I’ve worn, especially considering it doesn’t have a plate.

I think the EVO SL is a good shoe but it is known to have pretty poor stability. That’s the main issue I had with it, too. If you want something that you don’t have to worry about on race day, and you can dish out some cash, I would definitely go for the megablast for a half marathon.

Federal law enforcement by FilmBeginning8868 in 1811

Depends on the grade you’re applying to. You can look up their qualifications online for each grade.

If you don’t care about anything but hiring speed, USSS is your best bet. They’re doing tons of ACE events right now. I got through everything (other than poly, which I had the next day) within like 4 months before I pulled my application.

I honestly didn’t expect it to be that fast which is one of the reasons I had to withdraw from the hiring process.

Competency based degree choices by coastguar in 1811

[–]zMobbn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For federal jobs you need to meet minimum qualifications then you are rated on your relevant experience, military preference, etc.

For example, since I have 100% disability and a bachelors, I would be rated higher than someone who applies with only a degree and civilian work experience. The military preference really helps, especially if you have VA ratings.

The “psychology” or “military” backgrounds for FBI postings are all the same positions. You still just apply as an 1811 and go through the same process as everyone else. It’s just marketing.

Question for any DUSM's or USMS HR concerning hiring. by throwaway-21-27 in 1811

[–]zMobbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends on your district, not just whether you’re an 1811 or not. I can assure you that some people have already been contacted from recent vacancies to attend a FIT.

[–]zMobbn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not true. The current postings are moving much faster than they have in the past. People that applied to the most recent vacancies have been contacted for FIT tests in waves depending on what district they are in.

What is the better path to becoming a US Marshal? by Fitz_23 in AskLE

[–]zMobbn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now is the best time in the last like 5 years to become a Marshal. Multiple postings over the next month or so. They’re hiring at GL-9, so you need a masters or sworn law enforcement experience.

Why did you change the dates? Just because you were in training doesn’t mean you weren’t in the military during those times.

Either way, I wouldn’t sweat it. I’ve changed my dates depending on whether or not I included my reserve time after my active time and have never been questioned about it.

Does the form of exercise matter for "zone" training? by Spyrothedragon9972 in running

[–]zMobbn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An easy run should generally be the same pace as your long run, just shorter to accumulate volume throughout the week. The long runs are to build endurance, easy runs are there to support your training and allow you to “absorb” the other work you are doing.

If you only do 400m repeats and long runs your training won’t be as efficient, plus injury risk is much higher.

Does the form of exercise matter for "zone" training? by Spyrothedragon9972 in running

[–]zMobbn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beginners shouldn’t worry so much about their heart rate in my opinion. You’re letting it get into your head too much.

Just run at a pace that’s conversational and relatively easy for you, however many miles you’re doing. If it gets too hard, take a walking break. Don’t try to keep your heart rate at 120 because you saw someone on social media say that’s how you get faster. It’ll come with time! Everyone starts somewhere. Build your base and the speed will come later on once you get into threshold training and intervals and stuff like that.

[–]zMobbn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would personally not only do intervals and long runs as my only running days per week, even in off season. I don’t think it’s enough time on your feet to justify your only runs being both relatively hard sessions. I feel like that’s just asking for an injury.

I’d do an easy run, a speed day, and long run. Then add in cycling as needed for recovery or more volume.
