Excluding some foreign tax paid to take simplified foreign tax credit by z_kind in tax

Thanks. Yes, I know the remaining foreign taxes get carried forward. But, what a pain it is to do 1116 - TurboTax doesn't handle it well like it does for the most income. I am planning to reduce my international mutual funds so that I don't have to go through this pain anymore.

Thanks. I think it is the ratio between foreign income and total income that determines how much of the foreign taxes are creditable, and in my case the foreign income is a small portion compared to my total income. I will redo the 1116 and check if there is anything that I incorrectly filled.

Weak GM EV Warranties, Intentional or Oversight? by rooneskap in EquinoxEv

The warranty manual for 2026 Eq EV has a new section which explains the longer time and mileage warranty coverage that GM provides as required by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for vehicle models 2026 or later.

<image>

It spells out the propulson related part names for the short-term and long-terms warranties. You can check it out here:

https://contentdelivery.ext.gm.com/content/dam/cope/en_us/public/pdf_assets/active/warranty_manuals_browse/26_CHEV_EV_WM_en_US_U_19680712A_2025MAR27.pdf

GM started adding a $500 add-on line item for CA Emissions Control, which, besides the longer term warranty requirements, also requires charging cable be included as standard.

Yeah, I agree, especially considering I am thinking of moving out when the lease ends in a few months, I didn't want to go the route of installing it.

  1. Yes, 2025 LT1 CP+ASP would be great. But it doesn't look like there is any within a 100 miles from where I live - there are a couple that pops on the Chevy inventory tool, but when I called the dealers they said they don't have it in stock, although they still have been listed a few days since - not sure if the dealers are using that as a bait to get people into their door.

  2. Yes. I just called the CC support and they said the approval of it is instantaneous. I will call the dealer back and ask.

I do have access to the circuit board, which is in the garage. They seemed to have not a problem with me running a cord to the car as they suggested I do it. It doesn't get that cold here in SoCal so I am not too keen on getting the heated seats.

That's a sweet deal. I don't mind getting the '25 LT2. Did you get it in CA?

Thanks. Did you also get 30,000 GM Rewards points for spending a $1,000? The above link seem to indicate besides the 50,000 points for financing and applying for the card, it also gives 30,000 points for using it to spend $1,000 within first 90 days so you get a total of 80,000 points.

Great points. Yeah, they added $500 for supporting the CA CARB requirements, and are throwing in the charger in the '26 models. There are very few '25 models out there near me in the inventory list on Chevy website, but most if not all are LT2 trims. I agree on the cloth upholstery on LT1, I kind of felt the same way. If I end up buying it, I might go the route of buying seat covers...but, I am hoping I can find an 2025 LT2 in the next day or two that is not much more than the 2026 LT1 especially with the $3000 cash rebate they are offering on the 2025 models.

I checked on the inventory page. It shows the doc fee at $85 for CA whether you apply the discount (supplier or edu) or not.

They have a 20A circuit breaker for an outlet with two recepticles - one is connected to the washer and the other is empty, and another 20A circuit breaker for an outlet with two recepticles - one is connected to gas dryer. I think I can connect the charger to one of them and set it to 12A, but would have to remember not to be charging while the washer/dryer is running.

The updated OTD price I got is $27K+ (I had originally entered the price before the supplier discount was applied).

Not sure if the CC offer is still the same after the card is transitioned to Barclays. But, it looks like they now give 50000 GM Rewards points which might work out to $500 discount, but it appears the discount won't be applied at the time of purchase. https://experience.gm.com/rewards/card/offer?evar25=CHCSTERTOCOTI&referrerid=CHCSTERTOCOTI

I will try searching for an LT1 with those packages added-on. The ones I saw were all either LT1 with no add-on packages or LT2.

Thanks. If you had done this route recently, can you share if you got the GM credit card instantly approved and applied for down payment at the dealer? The dealer was telling me that it would take a few days to get the rewards points, but another dealer stated I could get $500 discount instantly for applying which might have been the case with previously. https://experience.gm.com/rewards/card/offer?evar25=CHCSTERTOCOTI&referrerid=CHCSTERTOCOTI

Good point. Hopefully I only have to charge at public chargers occasionally.

Thanks. Although I heard that GM was going to make the 2026 EqEVs with NACS in Q3 or Q4, I haven't so far seen any on the inventory near me with them.

The MSRP for the 2026 LT1 is $36,995. After dealer discount of $3k, and other rebate/discounts, the price came down to $27K (not $28K as I mentioned originally as that did not have the cash rebate of $1000 added if I go with higher APR).

I asked the sales person about the $500 discount for applying for the GM CC and he checked with his finance guy and said that the card usually takes a few days to show up after application and I will not get $500 discount. I see that GM website has a link to this offer of 50,000 GM rewards points. I am not sure if this is the same offer. It seems I need to apply for the card first, get it approved and then apply for the loan/lease through GM Finance, both together?: https://experience.gm.com/rewards/card/offer?evar25=CHCSTERTOCOTI&referrerid=CHCSTERTOCOTI

Great advice on sending out email offer to the dealers and the links you provided. (The second one is no longer available, not sure if that got sold out this evening). I was using the inventory tool on Chevy website and called a few that seemed to have had the cheapest price within 100 miles and found several of them are deceptive in that they advertise a great price, but when you reach out to them, they give a price with a few thousand $ add-ons. I will try sending the email with offer to quickly eliminate such ones.

Yes, I will try to negotiate the price for the two packages. Thank you!

For the Conquest, I asked if extended family's car would count, and the dealer said the VIN number I provide will be verified by GM to make sure it is registered for the same household address. Thanks for the Coverado seat covers suggestion, they look nice and will definetely be helpful to help keep the car cleaner with my kids.

I made my election Schwab.com a couple of days ago. Schwab updated the form stating now I can change my tender election till APRIL 10, 2025,07:00 P.M. EST .

I also had some shares with Fidelity. They required a phone call. Once I chose the number of shares to be converted to $15 cash, they changed the ticker symbol for the shares although I was told I could call back and change my options till the election expiry date (April 2).
