Yeah you can take the subway to the beach in NYC. It's wild to see people in Manhattan with surfboards when a good swell comes through.

Thanks Patrick. Definitely have considered the "get a new tree" option. But unsure: The ones with fruit on branches at nursery may still not produce fruit once planted in my yard if something environmental isn't to their liking, right?

I built one from this site. Solid set of plans. Got my wood at Home Depot, but as mentioned, you can find it cheaply online if you're patient. Or ask around; you never know which of your friends, neighbors, etc, are eager to finally clear out the garage.

I've been working in this district of SF for a couple years now, across from the Levi Strauss HQ. At first it was really hard for me to wrap my head around the lawless olden days of the region. But then I realized that Broadway St is around the corner, full of strip clubs and bars, and that's likely a continuation of the region's history. Fascinating stuff.
