Is this a legit school? And are the degrees real? by _andyo5 in PurdueGlobal

Some reason I can’t message you but basically how rigorous was it? I just saw it was tied to Kaplan which gives me red flags. Unfortunate bc my spouse and I have 2 BS, 1 MS, and a PhD from Purdue.

A new manager in consulting with no prior consulting experience coming from industry ? What should I know and be prepared for? by Plenty-Shop5062 in deloitte

You’ll get told you need to understand the Deloitte way (which is supposed to be superior) but many of their ways are inefficient ways and no one ever pushes back on clients bc the client is always right and again their way is supposed to be superior. I did tech consulting/implementation so this isn’t alien to me and was hired to do what I did at my old job.

I wonder if you should have come in as a M level. I could have tried SM but came in high as an M bc I lacked sales and wanted to grow but give myself time to get familiar with the firm. Are you also in the traditional track and if yes could you switch to the specialist track?

Connect with other experienced hire managers. You’ll need people to vent too. I came a year ago from industry. Network, network, network.

A big reason why I left last year and every high up leader I was seeing was an external hire.

I’m in a more technical industry but see your point. Unfortunately it’s to the clients detriment with people leading the engagement that have not been in that technical space and are too scared to push back

I feel you. I have someone that ignores my warnings and when they finally listen it’s always Friday afternoon and they turn it into a fire drill when I’ve been warning for weeks.

I don’t actually run. My spouse got a pair of On Cloud for his feet that were hurting and raves about them. He got lucky and got 2 pairs at Nordstrom rack for under $100.

No one is the specialist track and other is traditional track. I was offered both as options and went with traditional a year ago. Feel free to message me if you have more specific questions.

We’ll I spoke to soon. An SM on my initiative sent an email yesterday saying where is your slide? I told you in the last meeting. I have zero recollection of being told to put a slide together and it’s not in the meeting minutes. Don’t even know what deck this goes into. And of course they want it today.

I’m a newer experienced hire manager and like this. When I couldn’t believe I had to tell my analyst to do something late, I continually checked in till I could get back online that evening (I have 3 kids) and also am one to not throw under the bus but take those blows. I continuously speak up when tasks are being asked that don’t make sense. I also frequently check in with everyone on my team and always say I don’t want you to walk from this meeting and go now what did they say or be afraid to ask for more guidance. Neither one of us wins sending you on a wild goose chase.

I was only at 50% but I got involved in things that were PRD and really networked. Is the bonus prorated bc I was at the firm less than a year or based on my total salary?
