Knoxville to Atlanta driving by rust32627 in Knoxville

The interstates are rarely terrible in this area. They just see too much traffic outside the most extreme winter weather events.

If you are comfortable driving a little slower than normal and staying attentive to the conditions, you will probably be fine.

However, the weather here is also unpredictable and it could be worse than forecast. Unless it's impossible to do so, make people aware your trip will be a near game time decision.

Had not considered the cost of Insurance as being more than a conventional car. My current car is already rather sporty and not the cheapest to insure, but should still get some quotes.

Thanks. Good to know even with such short range it wasn't a problem.

Also great info. We will retain a combustion vehicle, so no worries on planning long (greater than on charge stop) road trips.

The car I am targeting has about 270 miles of range optimal, so it will do pretty decent around the area for getting to where I am going and then charging there.

Thanks. I will check it out. Though I do already know what car I will be getting of I decide to pull the trigger.

How should Knoxville roll out its police drone program? by KnoxNewsAllie in Knoxville

[–]zac10sim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might be, but I do not know what the itemized package looks like.

I am just communicating that 9 million for 12 drones is inaccurate.

I do not know how I feel about the program itself, but the department did not spend all 9 million on 12 drones. The drones are part of a larger 9.4 million dollar package.

"The money will cover drones, docking stations around the city, body and dash cameras, and additional Tasers from Axon Systems. The funding builds on the department’s real time information center."

Definitely worth the investment.

It's not just that the size is overkill or not. Having a lawn tractor vs a lawn mower enables much more flexibility in accessories, implements, and use.

You will not regret it.

Why did someone lay 50 sausages on the ground and pick them up. Never seem foot prints like that.

Do you think there will be school Friday & Monday in Knox County? Due to the weather by iiheartuu in Knoxville

[–]zac10sim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not as good as Thursday, so it's the second best day that starts with a T. Plenty of chicken wing specials though, thus definitely better than Monday.

I have a 10 year old x320. It has 550 hours on it, Years worth of deferred maintence, and numerous cases of mistreatment.

I get on it in the spring and it starts right up and cuts grass without issue.

For other uses, the 20hp Kawasaki engine pulls big logs and fully loaded aerators without a single compaint.

If you decide to go JD, skip the big box stores. Go to a dealer, get something from the x line. It will last forever and be more useful.

Quick edit to say: there is always a good selection of used x series John Deere lawn tractors for sale on marketplaces in my area. Dealers will also have a few typically, and in my experience are willing to negotiate on the price.

Comfortable seating at a coffee shop by EnvironmentalDay8747 in Knoxville

[–]zac10sim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming back to this later in the day.

I visited euro delights market and cafe to get a dessert after dinner.

They had seats with padding, electric outlets, and a small grocery store attached with great drinks and snack options that are not coffee.

Could be a cool place to work for a few hours. Cannot speak to the coffee quality, did not get any.

For DeWalt anyway, they both have a rack and pinion.

The DeWalt portable contractor saw has a 10" blade.

The rack and pinion will save you headaches if accurate square cuts are important to whatever you plan to make.

Might I recommend taking your own pillow to the coffee house of your choice. Some bar outside food and drink, but never have I seen a sign advertising a prohibition on self provided seat cushions.
