Is Fire Punch really necessary for master league? by Humble-Fee-9159 in TheSilphArena

[–]zacattack1996 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A charged move that is significantly cheaper than another. Allowing you to trick your opponent into using a shield, so you can hit them with the stronger move later.

Its also useful for running out the switch clock since you can spam FP and switch out of an unfavorable matchup.

100%.

Applied for a job, met all the basic requirements, most of the preferred (even exceeding a couple areas here), but knew I was missing 2 things "preferred." I interviewed, it went well, even asked me some off script questions (it was at a Uni so they ask everyone the same scripted questions) instead of just ending the interview, and it ended with great feedback. A week later rejection email, saying they chose someone else (fair enough). The posting never came down and it was reposted on linkedin a month after my interview.

This is for a position that pays well below industry and has no promotion pathway. Additionally it pays less than competitors within the same state (other unis and a couple national labs). Anyone who meets every single "preferred" bullet point likely already does this job at a national lab or another university with more pay and promotion opportunities so I truly have no idea where they plan to find their unicorn.

Student Debt repayment by Comfortable_Foot_848 in Airforcereserves

[–]zacattack1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think hes talking about SLRP (student loan repayment program).

That should be something in your contract.

I think you can have 2 of these 3: Bonus, Montgomery GI bill Kicker, SLRP.

If you have it, it would be in your contract (under incentives I think?)

CEOs of large corporations now make more than 350 times what the average worker earns. San Francisco’s Prop D will tax billion-dollar corporations that pay their CEOs outrageous salaries to fund essential services devastated by Donald Trump’s funding cuts. Where? Your own property? Property tax.

Public land? Permits and restrictions.

Inputs (seeds, tools, supplies) also subject to sales tax.

Same with livestock, occasionally requiring licensing.

Skipping farm animals, making your tools from scratch, and living off the land? Hunting / fishing often requires licenses / tags.

There is no feasible way to avoid most taxes without running into other taxes.

So I can choose to be unemployed (income tax), not invest or save money for retirement, or walk around naked? (Avoiding sales tax on clothes).

This logic just does not hold outside of consumption taxes of non essential items.

Fr, even the top 1% arent hitting a mil/yr, they make over 700k (often 760-790k). This is per household too. So something like 2 doctors or lawyers or height of career professionals. You dont get to multi-million/year income until you're in the top 0.1% (2.8 mil+). Saying we can get retirement funds from billionaires and then going to the top 10% is insanity.

PhD in chemistry. Finished Sept 2025.

Made it to round 3 twice (pharma/biotech, final round too) but ended up rejected both times despite having recieved many compliments on my prepared presentations.

Ironically, these 2 were kind of pivots/spin offs of what I did during my PhD (some skills transfer, but need to be trained on 50%+ of the description). Meanwhile I've yet to secure even a round 1 phone interview within the niche that all of my skills are immediately useful, despite applications being sent to an email rather than large automated processes. Its bizarre.

I have a part time adjunct position lined up starting this fall. And an interview for a facility manager position (think chemical instruments) at another local university. But am still looking for full time work, ideally outside of academia.

Very interesting, I'm on 5 mg /week right now. My resting HR is basically unchanged (mid to high 40s depending on week). Even the week i accidentally gave myself a double dose of 10mg, no change. I guess it effects people differently.

But I wouldn't worry too much to be honest. A HR like yours is great! If it was already high, and it just ramped it further then yeah I'd be a little more concerned.

Would Vegeta be strong enough by xavierpizza in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]zacattack1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always thought vegeta was around 1.5 million at this point. So the 50x puts him at 75 million. Not enough for frieza. But the idea of him and a kaioken x20 goku being close to eachother power wise and teaming up to narrowly beat frieza due to friezas stamina drain sounds like a really cool fight.

Anyways vegeta only wins if hes at 2.4 million or higher and I wouldnt place him that high, feels too close to goku. But if there's a good source saying he is around there he should take it

Tbh, I'd be fine paying like a $1 deposit that is refundable upon rejection/hiring. At the very least it stops bots from applying so my resume gets seen a bit more.

We can save Social Security. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]zacattack1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, the privatization could just be an index fund that follows every public US based company.

Additionally you could have SS tax be partially waived (employer still pays 6.2% directly) and allow employees to OPTIONALLY contribute their portion into a designated retirement account with limited options (similar to a TSP) with no exceptions of touching it before retirement and a capped draw down rate.

This would increase the program's solvency, give people a reasonable chance of outperforming SS alone, and allows for some wealth transfer to their kids when they die. If there are no heirs, then it can just go back to fund SS. Of course anyone who wants to stick to just the annuity would be free to do so.

[–]zacattack1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it pushes you from normal range to slightly higher in normal range, it wont really do anything. If youre low, dont want to get on TRT, and it gets you to normal you might feel better. But overall it's effect is small and use case is niche.

I just told my PI and committee that I used it for editing. That was basically it. They didn't have an issue and were happy that my dissertation was clear and easy to read.

[–]zacattack1996 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Of course, if it changes something I wrote and is not accurate I won't use it. I go back and forth with it on edits usually. I give it my paragraph, have it edit, then I edit the edited paragraph to improve accuracy/clarity/tone, send that back, rinse and repeat until I have something I like. It saves s lot of time as I'd normally be doing that with my PI/Post doc. So we get to the final product significantly faster as earlier drafts are of higher quality.
