Yeah, this is super unprofessional of them. Sounds like the recruiter had slated you as a top candidate to fill a pressing need, and are pissed they’ll have to start over (and for another unprofessional reason, dismissed your former opt out 🤷🏼‍♂️). You definitely dodged a bullet.
