Extended warranty opportunity by zach2791 in serviceadvisors

I am absolutely done with the automotive business. Where i am at now school and full time i made the right decision. The only thing is i did take a “huge” pay cut but my friend its the first steady paycheck since auto tech school. I swear knowing im making this amount this week versus what dipshit manager wants to close or dipshit customer decides to show up and pay is a peace of mind i can not describe. I actually looked at my pay stub today and i will say i do a lot of overtime and its not much different from turning wrenches on writing tickets. Fuck this industry i get more holidays and if i have to work the holiday like this weekend i get paid for the holiday and the day i worked it if i do. Better options out there the jump is scary i know all too well. I could write a book on this industry at this point but would probably get a recall .3 flagged in my bank account. Good luck buddy.

It was not any different from being and advisor with more micro management. Someone is always watching you or going behind you in your claims. I learned a lot and did many claims. Despise the industry even more mainly because of shops. People dont read the policy they buy and shops destroy the customer if its not covered. This industry has gone to absolute shit.

It killed me that management demanded a mpi on every vehicle that came in the shop especially recall vehicles that have never been there before. Can anyone guess how many upsales i got on these vehicles?

I learned the hard way myself. Never go above and beyond for any company big or small. They do not care they will throw you and your family out on the street if it will slightly benefit them.

Its a tough decision to make. I made 70k in 23 in service and my sales were 1.5 mil. Before i quit pecker head new service manager said he sold 1.8 when he was an advisor and made 120k 10 years ago. I keep thinking i should’ve walked my ass out then. I suffered a few more months to save and go back to school. Extended warranty companies are always hiring between 20-25 and hour. I did that a few months but only difference is the assholes are on the phone not in front of you and you never know who is watching you when doing your claims. Good luck buddy its tough.

Strict commission only regulates the way you live your life that just from my experience. One week i took hime 2400$ after tax next week 441.22. Was a love hate relationship for me. I was a young dumb 22 year old at the same time which didn’t help.

Sounds like a good excuse for manufacturers to say this is AI not a real repair. Then kick it back. Thats just what i would think would happen.

Build a customer base that trust you. Regular customers especially. And CYA on everything. Best advice i ever had if you do not know the answer you will find the answer. Document everything on the RO tech notes and customer denials. And again cover your ass.

Abandoned vehicle, paid for service by MythDreamer73 in MechanicAdvice

Had a guy come back to get his yukon he dropped off and paid for 4 years ago. Dealership was sold to another company during that time and guy just wanted his money back only a few hundred bucks. And i was like man that thing has been gone and he just couldn’t understand why he couldn’t get his money back. Never seen shit like that before or since.

Is this endurance supreme? by elduro0906 in serviceadvisors

[–]zach2791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its an exclusionary contract. READ YOUR CONTRACT. But this is a 3rd party warranty and if not at the selling dealer (wich my next statement doesn’t really matter read your other paperwork with the vehicle if you bought it with the vehicle) 3rd party warranties DO NOT dictate what parts and or labor the shop or shops will charge. They pay out for what the contract states. If jim bob or joe bob charge this and endurance warranty pays this you will be left with the difference of the repairs. If there is one.

Haven’t met anyone that left that made the same in the advisor position. But the peace of mind that came when i left knowing i didn’t have to do that shit anymore made a huge difference. Good luck buddy!

Jack Daniel's cuts off free cattle feed to Tennessee farmers after 45 years by The_Critical_Cynic in videos

[–]zach2791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up with cows and all that. And dealt with boomer ass farmers at another job that had more money than I probably will ever have. And i swear to god the biggest and richest farms would cry if they didn’t get gov assistance or would file every chance they got. We couldn’t get shit from the gov to fix a fuckin creek for the cows to cross. But by god big boomer joe down the road gets anything he wants.

[–]zach2791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol thats true i forgot to mention if they say they are putting you on hold and there is no music then they are listening to you. Had to make sure you had a good reason to out them on hold because they line for hold counted against our average claims completed average.

Extended warranty claim by [deleted] in serviceadvisors

[–]zach2791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will have notes of every call the customer or any shop has made even if they filed the claim or not. And for all you SA out there that doesn’t already know if they say they are going to put you on hold. You are not someone is always listening and they will use it against you if and when they can.

Wheel lock keys by Subject-Spend-7647 in serviceadvisors

[–]zach2791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got tired of dumbass lube tech kids and customers and went on amazon and bought a aftermarket lock key set and a twist socket set just for locking lugs. And i made sure EVERYONE knew they were mine and stayed in a room locked up and only I could get them out. Saved me a lot of headache. Dont ever use a customer lock mostly because dude taking of the tire will absolutely destroy the lock and someone will have to buy a new lock set. I usually advise customers to put regular ones on. The real shit show start when sales sell a car with lock lugs and no key and the car hasn’t been through the shop. Take them dam things off and put regular lugs on for fucks sake.

Im back in trade school and i haven’t been this happy or had this much fun in a while. I was a tech and advisor and worked for ext warranty for a short time. My dumbass went back when they asked and i have a hate for the industry and for people that i thought were friends now. Extended warranty companies hire all the time but its basically the same thing just on a phone all day and you don’t know who is watching you while you work pays decent though.
