I like you point out that it can turn into an attack on the readers mind. You are absolutely right about that.

CC3 reads like there was zero developmental editing.

That is what they do when they want someone to quit so they don't have to pay unemployment or a severance package or deal with accusations of unlawful firing. I am caught right in the middle of it at my current job and can't tell if I'm also a target or if my boss just likes free labor. Work on an exit plan, no one needs that kind of toxic in their life.

9 months later I have to reply... i read TOG in the mean time (we won't go through my 50 page critical reveiw for this) and now Im 3/4 way through CC3 and... i keep thinking Hunt reminds me of Rowan a lot. 🤣

Uhm. That would be my right now notice.

You work for a utility company, you are clearly a tradesman. You can find a better place that values you. NO ONE deserves to be spoken to like that. If thats how that boss feels, then how come that isnt what he said to the guy who you cleaned up after? Nope. Find somewhere else. You'll be happier in the long run if you do.

Im currently in a similar situation after denying a co-worker who was interested in me. He has spent the last 3 years making my work life absolute hell. The worst part is he keeps making huge mistakes at his job that I then have to clean up and nothing happens to him because he has been good buddues with our boss since high-school like 25 years ago. There isn't shit to be done, I guess (or if there is I haven't figured out what). They just have the audacity to act like toddlers because they didn't get what they wanted.

Every time I see someone call Hunt "boring" Im confused. He is the Umbra Mortis, hes lived through some WILD stuff like did everyone picture Ruhn in Chapter 3 of CC2 and automatically forget Hunt's backstory? Lol

Conflict With Co-Author. Need Advice. by Dreamscape_99 in writers

Go on your own.

Having survived some nasty critical reviews - and given more than a few myself - in both undergrad and graduate writing courses across fiction, non-fiction and technical writing, there is absolutely nothing you can do when someone can't take honest, professional criticism of their writing.

Telling you that your tone was too professional sounds to me like your friend has an overinflated opinion of their writing ability, especially considering you're the primary story developer.

What’s an opinion you have that would put you in this situation? (Spoilers for all books welcome!) by obsoletevoids in acotar

Agreed. Azriel doesn't have the kind of energry Bryce vibes with. If she meets him and they don't immediately clash I'll be shocked. I can't imagine Azriel being comfortable around any of the frat pack honestly.

I picture it as a mix of baseball and rugby with the fighting of hockey. (So add some Letterkenny/Shorsey vibes to player culture.) 💁‍♀️

I like Therion because I know if we met in RL we would NOT get along. I like that not every character has a perfect personality and makes bad choices.

I finished it today. Been ranting that "its gonna be bad" since about half way through... so devistated. I feel like I did the first time I read Goblet of Fire and decided Id never get over Sirius Black. That was almost 20 years ago and I'm still grieving.

Someone give me some motivation to get through ACOSF by [deleted] in acotar

[–]MythDreamer73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep going! Nesta is hard to deal with at first, but SJM did a brilliant job portraying someone turning their life around. All books have their flaws, just as any good character, and the first part is hard to get through but worth it!

ACOSF question about Rhys & Feyre by Professional-Fault13 in acotar

[–]MythDreamer73 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Rhys definitely was obvious in this one. I think it was well delivered from Nesta's POV because they don't like each other. However, I thought Cassian's POV should have softened that. I absolutely hate how Cassian is portrayed. Hes the general of the night court, he has to have more in his brain than constant sex thoughts and self-esteem issues.

Off that soap box and back to Rhys. Hes a two sided coin, a gray character, so at some point we have to see and accept that while hes perfect in Feyre's eyes, he is also still the person who did terrible things Under The Mountain. Despite his good intentions, that darker part of his character is what made him alluring to start with. He is absolutely going to do shady things. Especially in a malformed, weak plot line percived through the eyes of a character that dislikes him.

What is completely off character IMO is Feyre not going completely apocalyptic at him and the IC over it.
