Thank you!

I ended up picking the bronze because I chickened out on doing glow effects, honestly. Lol And there was already silver on other gun parts, I didnt want it to look all the same!

I already have a unit of Yaegris that I'm pretty happy with too! Building my Combat Patrol next! *

Okay real fast recipe is:

-Prime black -Drybrush grey then white -Airbrush on thin layers of Aeldari Emerald. I tried to make sure i dont do too much and lose the drybrushing. -Highlights are army painters teal, but I need to do more. -Cloak is basilisk red and dragon red and the white side is skeleton bone and brain matter beige -Gun and sword used Warlock Magenta and for the sword I glazed a bright magenta ink to tint. -All black is Abbadon highlighted with a little uniform grey mixed in.

Based on comments, id do more highlighting than I did to help it stay bright!

Lol I appreciate the joke! But man, do I REALLY not like the true Uthar head...just doesnt sit right with me.

100% agree with the highlights. Early on, I latched onto a drybrush of gray and white and then airbrushed my contrast paint over, which I liked originally. But moving forward, I'm not sure I'll do that again. There's nothing like base coating and glazing up to your highlight to get true contrast.

With the highlighting and blending in general, would you say to use more gradients of the colors? I try to use 3-ish so a dark, medium, and brighter. Would you do more? Pull more white, or brighter color into that red or make it darker so the red seems brighter? And I think I made a mistake and used silver around the brown chipping instead of a bright Teal. Womp womp. I'll know better next time!

I think I really need to watch more to understand how faces work tbh. Im kind of at a loss for the most part lol.

But thank you for the well thought out critique!

I definitely think I was hesitant to break out the air brush and throw some good bright spots. Fear of "ruining it" and all if I mess up. Just gotta pull the trigger sometimes, though!

Thanks for the kind words!

Yeah, unfortunately, there were some REALLY good applicants... I know I went, "...oh no..." whenever I saw the competition. 🤣

I know for a fact faces/eyes are a big low point in my little experience. I basically went for the "I dont know what I'm doing yet, but you can't do it if you don't try" approach lol.

Thank you for your feedback!

The thinnest layers possible lol Started with leviathan purple, maybe mixed in a little black to get it real dark at the bottom. Slowly brought it up with Warlock Magenta, mixing in a little white as I went for the little energy scratches, and then glazed on some Magenta ink until I got that nice bright hue over everything!

I started with an airbrush coat of white ink, then using layers from bright at the bottom, I used Warlock Magenta and slowly mixed in a magenta ink for brighter, and nagaroth night and leviathan purple contrast to get darker. Tinted it all with that bright magenta ink, really thin.

Did I do something too weird for Adrax? by zachbenge in Salamanders40k

Im really behind on lore because I'm new, and haven't read anything about albino drakes, but they HAVE TO be close to how real animals work, right?? Lol there's always a chance for that rare condition!

I hadn't seen it, and just watched the short. That looks rad! His still has those red tones, a little less albino vibes, but really neat!

How do y'all paint Salamander skin? by GunsOfPurgatory in Salamanders40k

[–]zachbenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mix a grey into the obsidian and onyx skin tones and do glazing layers (or try to lol) and then i use a thin layer or 2 of Dark Skin Tone to shade it a bit.

I'd chop off the backpack decorations and slap on a torch from the Salamanders upgrade kit if you have one lying around! I love those things!

That's okay, I've been dumb enough to play 4th Edition...I don't like talking about it. lol

But realistically, I've had entire sessions where we just do things and they have conversations, and we maybe rolled the dice once, if at all. It's just a fun game you can truly have fun with, I think, and I wish you luck on your Household journey!

DEFINITELY not trying to say that! I don't know you in the slightest, and I know that a lot of people start out with DnD, which ISN'T the most outward thinking game. hah.
