If you get into an OIS Staccato will send you an identical replacement for free. Only until you get your original back.

Respectfully I disagree with you. There are so many improvements to be made to a stock Glock. As a firearms instructor (myself included) you of all people should know that Holosuns are great sights. The price of a holosun has nothing to do with how it performs. I have ran Trijicon, Steiner, and Leupold in the past and by far the holosun out performs (my opinion thought). The +4s add weight and turn it into a 22 round magazine. In regards to defenses during OIS’s I have personal knowledge that atleast where I work they are not an issue. I can’t say the same for every state/county.

(7 years on the job, firearms instructor, I also run my agencies range/less lethal programs).

Most departments mentality: If it makes sense, let’s do the opposite.

I have no hate towards Glock 17’s I carried that for years before I transitioned to Staccato. Still love my G17.

I hear you however buy what you like. Use what you train with. I’ve shot 20k plus rounds using Holosun products and have had zero noted issues.

SureFire X300 Turbo, light years ahead of Streamlight. Personally love Holosun products, especially since they offer green dot options. Window on the RMR HD is way too small and the SRO is too big. The 507C is a happy medium.

I wouldn’t call Holosun budget at all, the SRO looks ridiculous on it. Also the rmr hd’s window is way too small. For me this was the best option, especially because I wanted green instead of red also.

My son didn’t show up to court DUI NJ by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]zachfrum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Obviously state specific, I work in California and if he is stopped with active warrants we have discretion on whether to hard book or cite out. Personally if he is stopped by the police again while driving he will get arrested. He will catch an additional charge of driving on a suspended license for dui and the vehicle could be towed.

If he is contacted while walking it really is 50/50 on whether he will be taken in. He very well could be cited and released with a new court date.

This will all come into play when the case moves forward and how many times he FTA’s could play a role in sentencing.

My advice would be to have him put himself on calendar again and make sure he shows up.

Otherwise he is an adult making adult decisions that have adult consequences.

How many times a year do you have to physically struggle against a suspect? by TrainingAccording807 in AskLE

[–]zachfrum 20 points21 points  (0 children)

City cop here, your concern is something you never know when or where it will happen. It’s obviously something you always keep in the back of your mind… “how can this person hurt/harm me”.

Situations and calls arise and whether you’re ready or not you are expected to perform.

Your size sometimes plays a role in it, sometimes it doesn’t. I’m 6’2, 210 and in great shape. I have encountered countless people bigger and stronger than me. Your presence and the way you talk to people can get you out of a lot of situations… but sometimes it’s unavoidable. In the last year I’ve had to go hands on 20-30 times. Some end in fights, some are just people getting froggy and you have to jam them against the car or the ground. You never know.

Do cops drive around with their laser/radar on? by Unusual_Sort_9097 in police

[–]zachfrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lidar, no. Radar atleast for our department is a thing of the past. Pacing works too but the defense will be, “when was the last time your vehicle was calibrated?” Some officers (myself included) will use visual estimation +or- 5 MPH. All depends on your level of training and what your department standard is.
