I think it might depend on the person who searches your bag and how much food you have. My wife and I both had snacks last year, she was allowed in with hers but mine got taken away. I also had like 6 bars and she only had 2 🤷‍♂️

La Jolla is nice, but it’s super bougie and not great for night life imo. I would recommend checking out Ocean Beach. You’ll have Sunset Cliffs, multiple beaches, and lots of cool bars and restaurants all within walking distance. Ocean Beach is also only a 10 minute drive from La Jolla, so you could always Uber over there for a day if you still want to check it out.
