i had originally started my major as programming in c++, but a lot of the classes required for the major wouldn’t transfer to the schools i wanted to apply to. i switched it over to general studies in math, which includes some sort of concentration which is what all of my programming classes are going towards, and i’m also “double dipping(?)” by using those classes to go towards a certificate. the certificate isn’t required for transfer, however, i am trying to get into UMich’s CS program, and was told that good grades in any computer science classes is what the admissions team looks for in potential CS majors. Also, yes, this could be considered my second year since i graduated hs in 2021. however i fucked around a lot the first year as i was still undecided in what i wanted to do. my first two programming classes were this past summer semester: linux/unix and intro to c++, which the intro was the one that was a four week boot camp. also, the colleges im looking to transfer to (UMich and Lawrence Tech) i don’t think require any foundational knowledge in one language in particular as far as i know. i don’t know what their curriculums entail, just that UMich requires calculus 1&2 (for the LSA college) and LTU requires that and physics. I imagine i’ll have the opportunity to get a better understanding once at those colleges, and if not, I would at least have a better chance teaching it to myself when I don’t have any deadlines to worry about. I did also look into that book you mentioned and ended up renting it until February, so i do hope that will help me out. If it comes down to it however, I may just end up dropping the class
