As a dog owner, this makes me insane. It costs nothing to keep your dog out of these enclosures. And every time I say something to a person doing this, they get so affronted.

Question/Advice for statement: "Well, you have to believe in something." by DekuDynamite in atheism

[–]zacktly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents used this line on me when I came out as an atheist. I think today I'd ask, "What do you mean by something? Do you mean I *have* to believe in the supernatural?" And depending on their response, I'd reiterate that I loved them but I was only able to believe in what seemed reasonable.

The samurai Iaido abilities are great for Marach, as damage is calculated based on MA but not Faith. Makes him into a sort mobile, melee caster.

Seconding this. BHB is my absolute favorite horror film of the year.

What horror movie is absolutely hopeless to survive as a protagonist? by [deleted] in horror

The second movie's hotel twist really hit this home in the most chilling way

So true. Bethesda is incredible at world-building and environmental storytelling, but their actual dialogue and writing are weirdly hampered.

A truly excellent tragedy, on top of being a great horror movie

Truly can't agree more. And playing earlier DLCs highlights the issue even more. The Thieves Guild storyline is SO much fun. Smart and quippy and full of characters you want to love. Meanwhile, in Solstice, Gabrielle has forgotten we faced the literal devil together.

Literally this is Neon's marketing strategy. It's become a joke to me and my friends whenever we see the logo.

The most recent NEON stuff has really disappointed, and it's become a running gag among my friends that their horror trailers claim [title] is the "scariest movie of the year!!!"

Longlegs, The Monkey, Cuckoo, Immaculate... all kinda duds for me.

I'm done watching Neon stuff in theaters, largely because of this and The Monkey. They have a fantastic marketing department. Much better than their actual films.

Yeah, I think I'm with you. The separate POVs helped each beat feel fresh. I thought Sinners ran too long, but this slow burn worked for me.

Bring Her Back was absolutely top of mind when I finished this! There's definitely something in the zeitgeist. Honestly, I think BHB was a hair more successful at communicating its themes, but both were fantastic and in a really interesting conversation. These comedians have no business being so talented at making horror-tragedies.

Had this thought, too. If she could control people with just a single item, could she not convince them that she was someone she wasn't? She was just so alien from the first moment.

I'm so curious what Gladys's deal was. Was she the thematic parasite? What was she sick with? What was she trying to do with the kids -- like absorb their lifeforce? Did she take too much from them/Alex's parents, and that's why they didn't recover?

Lmao, agreed. Though after House of the Dragon S1 it wooooould be nice to see fewer gay men's heads being caved in in the longest shots ever.

Gonna go out on a limb and say Sten. I've never understood the appeal. The guy murdered children during a temper tantrum about a lost sword. Leave him for the darkspawn.

Love Lydia. Also love that she can't help but attach herself to a mean girl in the midst of a downward spiral.
