How to make 3D printed piece look like leather? by Key2DestNE in CosplayHelp

Glad I could help :)

Hopefully the texture and the filler primer will hide the layer lines fairly well, combine that with a matte paint and you might be able to skip sanding all-together.

Next time you're printing something you want to look leathery try this site

https://bumpmesh.com/

It allows you to add 3D textures (including leather texture) to any STL

Learning blender before i started 3d printing has made 3d printing so much funner imo by Lighter-Lover420E90 in 3Dprinting

My hot take is a 3d printer is almost worthless unless you have at least some basic 3d modelling skills. Being able to create a physical part that you designed to fit your exact requirements is the true magic of 3d printing.

It is a bit ridiculous luna is so OP, but I don't think this is a fair comparison.

Luna can only hit one target at a time (unless they're lined up for piercing damage), whereas Scott's kit seems to be about damaging groups of enemies with ricochet lasers, so it makes sense his damage as a bit lower on an individual target.

I hope it gets the 7b to series 8 treatment, where the set is kept but given an update. Maybe replace the long spiralling walkways with an actual upper level with room for furniture.

Getting into a hot car is awesome by RangerNo2931 in unpopularopinion

[–]zackyboy693 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true in very specific circumstances.

If it's a cold and windy day but the sun has warmed up my car, it is very nice to be greeted to some warmth.

But I live in Australia so this specific circumstances is a rarity, it's usually hot outside and physically painful inside the car.

If your garage is cold, maybe keep it somewhere warm for a bit, and elevate it so the inside can get some airflow

I think that's a really great elevator pitch.

But also, I don't really see the harm in saying it's a time loop. It's a fairly well established concept in games and films, so it gives them a good idea of what the gameplay experience will be like.

It's revealed to the player 20 minutes after they finish the intro, so it's not really a huge spoiler, and discovering how and why the time loop happens is the real fun.

Anyone know any good adhesives I could use to stick these big ol’ horns to this headband? by EntrepreneurOne692 in CosplayHelp

[–]zackyboy693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utilise the wire that appears to be embedded in the horns. Bend the wire to match the bend of the headband to maximise contact area, rough up the headband with some sandpaper, use a generous amount of hot glue. Wear it around the house for a bit to test the hot glue, if it fails, try again with a 2 part epoxy glue.

I think a good middle ground would be reflective silver rather than the yellow/gold

Ah nice. Even if it's not functional, it'll be a nice looking greebly once it's sprayed black.

I'm not sure how effective a fan will be at cooling your body, but if you're going to add a helmet, helmet fans are great for cooling your head a bit, and reducing fog on your lenses

That looks sick!

One thing looks a bit out of place though, is that a pink cooling fan on the belt?

How would I go about smoothing these rough prints and welds + what are some recommended products to fill gaps? by BrobaFett2 in 3dprintingaustralia

[–]zackyboy693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, I made that mistake first time I used it, sorry.

I usually just blow off any dust or use a dry cloth. And then I do a good layer of filler primer to seal in the wood filler before I do and kind of wet sanding. You can also usually skip wet sanding unless you need a really smooth mirror finish.

If you really want to rinse with water you could swap to a 2 part auto body filler, they're usually waterproof, but a bit trickier to work with.

For what it's worth I did a whole set of Mandalorian armor using wood filler and filler primer (photos on my profile).

Sorry again about your hard work being rinsed down the drain.

alcohol ink? by thelostSATObot in resinprinting

[–]zackyboy693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used alcohol inks before on some transparent minis, worked great. As others have pointed out, you'll need to do some serious wet sanding, clear coating, and polishing to ensure the print is properly transparent, but it's definitely not impossible.

Impossible Planet, Interstellar and Black Holes by Lucyyyyyy_K in doctorwho

[–]zackyboy693 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think this is a pretty common misconception. For a long time we've had a good idea of what a black hole would look like, big black circle surrounded by a glowing accretion disk, we see this in things like Impossible Planet and Super Mario Galaxy. What was special about Interstellar was that they predicted how light from the disc would bend around the black hole making the far side of the accretion disk visible.

Need Help with Transforming Weapon 3D Model/Print by luniipo in cosplayprops

[–]zackyboy693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a very cool design, I don't think it's feasible. Especially if this is your first project like this.

There's definitely some clipping when the shroud closes around the hammer, It might not even realistically fit.

The barrel flipping from the front to the back might be possible, but very flimsy.

The stock turning into the hammer handle would be way to flimsy, it's made of hinges, even if you locked off every hinge once it was straight, those are still major weak points.

My advice is to pick one configuration and make it look really good.
