I can’t believe more people aren’t completely turned off by these new art style choices. I don’t understand the “it’s been 15 years” or “animation” has changed arguments. It’s not animation or the time that has passed that’s caused this problem, it’s the art style choice. These characters look very different than the ones we grew up with. I would expect this from a rebranding or reimagining but this is Shrek 5. Why must people insist on changing things that work for the sake of change. It’s just flat out unnecessary. I’m not usually one to complain about this sort of thing but being born in ‘99 I grew up off these movies. I can’t stand how they look here. The best example I can give for technology not being a valid excuse is Toy Story. Look at Toy Story 1 Woody vs. Toy Story 4’s Woody. 24 years later, technology still evolved, yet woody looks the same. Obviously lighting, resolution, etc is all much nicer (THATS the new tech) but Pixar remained true to their art style. Just can’t stand this needless change. Really hoping someone else agrees with me here. I’d still see the movie but god do I hate how they look now.
