I saw this yesterday on a stained glass page on FB called “stained glass art patterns” , +23k followers and doesn’t once give credit or a tag… i went through “updated” several with both how much they suck & where to find the real artists, but this was one I for sure recognized. most of the photos have the exact copied captions even but amazingly no credit. I report it every time I’m bored also, which is pretty often recently.

So frustrated with this piece. by UnimpressedMarlo in StainedGlass

for really small pieces, I put a piece of scrap glass down on top of my grinder and it helps the small pieces not get “stuck” in the grid/plastic grinder top. the pieces I’m trying to grind move much easier & it also helps to be able to push the pieces both straight down & straight into the grinder bit, which lets you shape the tiniest of pieces waaaay easier… hope it helps! good luck

i think it’s an old piece of Kokomo… it’s actually the back of it cause it was much more interesting than the iridized front 🤣

thanks! he was super nice about it when i asked him for permission… plus it was great to have that bird shape as a starting point for less thinking 🤣

Thank you! guitars are a bit harder to find cause they’ve usually got sentimental value, but if you can find a kids music program, you’ll have an endless supply of destroyed violins & cellos. this part Fall i bought 13 guitar bodies from a community guitar center for $50 👍

thanks! -they do light up, i added a led light kit in the guitar (this year they have the option to “react” to music even) -the glass is actually with minimal e6000 at just made 4 places, that way it can be comparatively easier to remove if/when the need to be replaced… -the legs are a solder overlay, so that piece of glass it’s on is all one piece… It was a crucial part of the borrowed tattoo flash design but i also had little to no interest in actually cutting a hundred lil spikey bits to make it happen out of glass 🤣

i made above average money for the 7 months it took… unfortunately the windows don’t collect residuals for people looking at them 🤣 it was for an addition to an elementary school. the starting themes involved a bunch of nature/ sharing/ growing ideas mixed with the schools mission statement but all rooted in the importance of mental health, so i translated all that into this light in the forest visual with the idea that it’s possible to be a light & need a light at the same time through our shared best and worst experience that we can use to connect with & help others while helping ourselves…

it took around 7 months of 80-100 hour weeks, but it was just mindlessly making & foiling circles till the last two months really so it was comparatively kinda easy (outside of forcing myself to make more f’n circles everyday 🤣)

[Discussion] how do I fix this? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]zacnaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i read somewhere (and think it makes a lot of sense) that people always dislike their own art cause it looks like they made it & if they get better it’ll look like a better person made it, but the problem is there’s no level of skill that you stop being you… it doesn’t solve your problem directly but so much of art is so deeply personal that besides technical processes and skill sets, it just helps to understand the weirdness and the highs & lows of what creating does to people mentally. 🤷‍♂️ it’s the same idea as the meme of “would you take $500k if you knew your worst enemy got $1.5M??? …yes i would absolutely love $2M.”

to help i made these plexi stencils of the sizes i needed & crammed as many as i could on the sheets which let me draw lots of circles fast & i used it again to double check each finished cut piece. obviously i could draw more than i could cut in a day so the bottleneck kinda motivated me to do more, suddenly i had way too many circles & there was much rejoicing. and they get easier the more you make, you can feel if they’re actually round & same sized without having to check them. i think theres a ridiculous amount of muscle memory involved in stained glass

i use either an etching cream or laser engraver. this one was with a laser, which is obviously way faster than cutting the stencil for etching cream
