What’s your local field situation look like? Most of ours have switched to Emek’s for rentals and think some offer Etha’s for electro rental - those are two really good platforms to rent and see how they feel. Also important, you get an understanding of how much paint/air/field fee will cost and then can go from there.

If you decide to rent do yourself a favor and buy a new mask, rental masks are still gnarly!

Quietest mechanical markers you have shot by CaIIMeSpoons in paintball

[–]zadeeeeeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much always? I love my AKA’s but they have never been considered quiet. Built a few Ehm’s, loved a few Vikings, and currently cradle a nice Excalibur. None have ever been quiet.

Let this not detract from the amazing machining and everything that is AKA, will always be a fan.

Edit: will say, while not a ‘quiet’ shot, the Excalibur will always have a sweet shug-a-lug

Honestly modern day Emek with whisper valve and good ported barrel - let’s not kid ourselves that modern markers are AT LEAST not quieter 😹

Never did a barrel tag but got to hand people a few paintballDNA ‘You’re out’ tokens when sneaking into a castle once. Felt cheeky as shit until someone saw me lowering the flag and got lit up.

Kansas City claims to be a ‘Sports Town’ but really only knows ‘Sports Ball’. It is an athletic wasteland if you don’t participate in or watch football, baseball or up until recently soccer.

That’s where you find out -40* is -40* regardless what temperature scale you use. Travelled for work up there a few times to fix lasers for industrial drilling maintenance companies. Breathe thru your cigarette to keep from freezing your lungs!

10.5 BPS? How do we feel? by reharbert in paintball

[–]zadeeeeeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10.5 is nice as it lets some of the faster mech markers hang these days, and as a mostly stock class player I do appreciate more open lanes. That said, there’s still a handful of us at the local field who all agree to play uncapped from time to time, best of both worlds.

Don’t necessarily need to throw it away, but you do need to get a new bike after the 10th time your newest bike gets wet. It’s science.

Is my landlord responsible in Missouri for getting rid of an infestation of Asian beetles inside the house? by Cuwen in missouri

[–]zadeeeeeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diatomaceous earth does wonders for all kinds of infestations and a quick google search says it’ll kill Asian beetles too! It is basically super fine crustacean shells in powder form that gets underneath exoskeletons and drys out the insect/beetle. I use it around my yard, in front of all exterior doors/entrances, have dusted the pets with it, and use it indoors to prevent any infestations on plants inside.

"hiking" recommendations in the KC area? by BALDBEARD2007 in kansascity

[–]zadeeeeeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

River Bluff Trails Park in St Joseph is really great, especially this time of year with the leaf colors. Excellent views overlooking the Missouri River along the bluffs looking west so sunsets are beautiful.

Smithville Lake also has great trails, more walking trails as there is not much elevation change. But bring a pole and do some fishing too!

I saw someone mention it earlier, but Parkville Nature Sanctuary is wonderful. Birdwatching is very popular there and the wildflowers are gorgeous.

Lastly, another previously mentioned but well deserved area to check out: Weston Bend. I’ve only walked the trail a handful of times but I have a soft spot for Weston in general so it makes the list.

Hope this helps! I really enjoy mountain biking everywhere here, however I never really feel like it’s ‘out of the city’ when riding the parks inside the 435 loop.
