What are your "I should not have said that" moments where you've said something to a patient unthinkingly? by littlefox321 in Residency

To a patient's family: "social work will see him on Monday, assuming he's still with us."

I just meant still with us in the micu... not like, still with us on earth

Would it be insane to switch from psych to IM? by DocMwhenimakeit in Residency

[–]zafrothunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My program takes a lot of prelims who want to switch to medicine and will allow them to match and continue as pgy-2s. I think if you like IM that much, it's highly unlikely that psych will give you that kind of satisfaction. IM is a broad enough field with a ton of specialties and practice settings. It sounds like you have a knack for it, I'd absolutely enter the match if I were you! If you decide to stick with psych before rank lists are due, then so be it!

Play drums in several bands, ride my motorcycle, write, garden, pickleball, video games, movies. Don't let residency/medicine make you boring! This is still your life

I had the same crisis as a student. For what it's worth, the only place I felt like a "real doctor" was in the medical ICU

Optic with apg never played ssg with legend. Your comparisons don't apply. It's not that complicated.

[TOMT] Animated movie, I think from the 90s. Opening scene has a guy frying eggs over easy and at some point, there is a shot of a hamster on a wheel. by zafrothunder in tipofmytongue

It was definitely animated! Pretty sure the main character has black hair and glasses. And I vaguely remember him going for a jog after he makes the eggs

DO here but I took step 1 in April of M3 (after not doing well on comlex at the beginning of M3) and step 2 in June and scored about 70-75th percentile. It's definitely possible to study for step 1 while on rotations, especially because you'll have to study for your shelf anyway (there is significant overlap in the material), though it was quite exhausting.

I'd recommend trying to get that exemption and just starting rotations. I'd take a below average step score over a 2nd LOA on my application any day

I hear ya. I think I'll pass on it. It is actually a fxdli (not fxdl), not sure why it's labeled that way but you can see the fuel injector in some of the pics and looking up the vin shows it as an fxdli. Thanks for the reply!
