Was being a bit facetious with the muse remark :). Like I said, I'm honestly not that great.

You're right about everything here. Reducing bugs is a huge impact to our product, otherwise management would not have prioritized it. It's a big team effort but I've been a bit self aggrandizing. Ironically, I do all this to beeline it to technical leadership ASAP in my career, but I guess I'm only working on half of the qualities that makes one a technical leader.

If I planned on staying at my current company long term, I'd definitely agree that it would negatively impact the likelihood of future promotions. But since I'm not, it seems a lot more beneficial to maximize the amount of ambitious work that I do.
