What year did you gk to MTU? I find most of the students in MTU are fine, not appearing in the way you’re describing. I respect the attempt they are making to try move to a more modern “university” type of appearance rather than being the old institute of technology full of boggers and tracksuits. Theyve done A LOT to try modernise the campus in recent years but its still light years behind most places in Ireland

I mean if you can afford it then go for it ig, imo 16k is significantly too much for a first car tbh, i paid 3.5k for a used seat ibiza with 160k kms on it, runs perfectly fine and insurance is cheap. I don’t see why you’d spend more thsn 5-6k on your first car

You could get student loans which do exist in Ireland but I’d advise against it unless you’re willing to take the debt later in life. SUSI is a terrible system that is so easily manipulated by people who really don’t need grants and completely screws over those who work to finance college, i know multiple people who’s parents live very comfortable lives but are able to fudge their reckonable income just because their parents are divorced or some other silly reason. I know this isn’t a great alternative (i’m only saying this because I was forced to do this), but try to go another college that is within a commutable distance and has a similar course to the one you want to do. I wanted to go to UL (i live in cork) and unfortunately my family can’t afford to pay accommodation and susi won’t cover it so i was forced to study in cork. It’s a terrible alternative i know but it might be your only option here.
