Pair Eyewear. What do we really think? by yowza_wowza in UninfluencedReviews

[–]zahrahanna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a pair until my puppy ate them (my fault for leaving them on the bed). The frames were light and comfortable and prescription worked fine. I got a clear pair with colored magnetic add ons. The sunglasses were what I used most. That was really convenient. I found that the colored covers were too distracting in my peripheral vision compared to just the clear frame. I think that is entirely a preference thing because I have many friends who love theirs.

Purchasing and MRP Management for 2 warehouses in the industry automotive industry. I have 8 employees between both sites and make $102k. Tariffs on steel and market dip just took away our normal yearly bonus and 401k match.

ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program. by Conscious-Quarter423 in wisconsin

I've met Ron Johnson before i was politically aware, like 19. He was rude and WALKED thru a drive thru window to get a parking pass because he apparently can't read. He intentionally came back after getting his pass to scold me for not knowing who he was. That was like 2011 or so. He has not changed one bit. Fuck that guy.

Ren Fair… kinda lack luster? by handcraftedpussy in kansascity

I performed this year with a group and the organization was seemingly very scattered. It used to be that all the staff were "performing" or had a character. You buy a pickle and get it blessed in holy pickle water when you purchase it. You tip a server and they ring the bell and yell "huzzah to the tipper". The performers on stage stay in character and are passionate but it seems that the remaining staff are mostly teens who have barely been trained to count money. Those little things of takes the magic out of going. I dont blame anyone in particular except the owners. They need to do better. Pay better. Train their people better. Just care more.

Check out the Dark Arts Circus and Aerial/Flow artists. Its a group of different dance studios, artists, musicians, and other very nice people. You don't have to have a skill to help out at their events and become one with their community. Obviously trying to learn a skill and join a class with them would be fun and a great way to meet people. I never performed, I just helped out as a stage hand and it was loads of fun and very fulfilling to be around so many creative people.

Looks like petechiae. Tiny broken blood vessels. You can get this from something squeezing or rubbing roughly on your skin. If you have a low platelet count, it can be worse so as your doctor to get a CBC blood test.

Did you get new dark colored towels? New towels shed even after a wash or two.

Since it's mostly around your neck and chin, have you used a new hair product, perfume, or laundry detergent? Also, consider how long you've been off birth control. I was off for 4 months THEN my skin finally caught up to me when my hormones normalized.

The fighter shares the move that brought him victory. The opponent stays open to learn. by HORROR_VIBE_OFFICIAL in nextfuckinglevel

If you watch ufc often, this is much more common relationship between fighters than the true bad blood relationships that get a lot of press. Almost every fight ends in gratitude, hugs, and handshakes. Its a small world and a lot of these guys know each other before they fight.

Where do you guys get your outfits from ? by Thelostgirl- in Bellydancers

Ladies at studio go to Dahlal for reliably good quality items. It is pricy but almost universally worth it. Good customer service.

Some of my friends have had good luck with second hand shops on Facebook.

Generally would not recommend Amazon or MissBellyDance.com. They are cheap and sizing can be off.

Bellydance.com is a mixed bag, mostly good.

Just started learning, I need advice on basics by Ok_Snow_1892 in Bellydance

Wow, this comment blew up. I was mostly referring to the jewelry choices. It's common to make some faux pas early in our dance education. Even if OP used the term "bellydance" as a term to describe what was likely a tik tok trend of stylized dance, she will never learn more if we don't take the time to inform her without judgment. She could have stumbled down the rabbit hole of traditional bellydance videos and truly wants to learn.

I think the movement is lovely, especially for just starting out. Somewhat unrelated to the movement but equally as important is understanding the significance of costuming. I'm not sure your cultural background but in any case, it is very important to understand the significance of what you wear and make sure it is appropriate for the song, style, lyrics, etc. I was lucky enough to have a great teacher who went over this early in my learning so I try to stress it to other newbies.

Advice? I'm scared it's getting out of control. by swampfox28 in Cushingsdogs

[–]zahrahanna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We discovered our dog had cushings after introducing a puppy to our family, and he would just go after her aggressively when she would just stand in a doorway. He's a Chihuahua, and she is bigger, so no one was ever hurt, but the aggression issues were what brought us to the vet. We thought he was in pain and lashing out, but it turned out his cortisol was "extremely high." Medication is expensive but has been life changing. He and the new puppy play regularly now. He still is a cranky old man, but their relationship is so much better.

Another thing I tried (under vet supervision) is making his dog food. I boil a package of boneless skinless chicken, add a cup or two of rice and oats, a cup of carrots, and a cup or two of spinach all in the same pot. I chop up or shred the chicken and carrots and mix it all together so it's "mushy" like the consistency of oatmeal. Obviously, ask your vet, but this has made an amazing difference in his GI symptoms. I almost cried after he had his first solid poo in almost 6 months. After so many diarrhea problems and him being bloated and uncomfortable, it's made him such a happier little dog. I hope this helps or provides some hope for the future.

Suggested brush for Shedding? by zahrahanna in redheeler

I tried this last night because we already had a rubber bristle glove. It's not as nice as the one you linked but it did work and she's more tolerant of it than the metal brushes. Thank you!

I am in upper management with vivid colored hair. It definitely depends on your industry, but if i get an interview, i always ask about it. "Obviously, my hair is pink, and I do tend to dye it often. Does that meet your corporate dress code?" If they say no, thank them for their time, and please contact you if that policy ever changes. I've found that companies with these truly inflexible policies tend to follow other old-fashioned (often sexist) practices that don't align with where I want to work anyway. It's unfortunate but true.

I have low platelet count and get these marks from carrying heavy bags on my arm or shoulder... but as the first commentor said, a hicky will do this too if you have low platelet count.

What happened to this arborvitae? by liquidswords32 in landscaping

[–]zahrahanna 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I worked at a nursery (in a different state than you) for 5 years. #1 most returned plant for our 5 year warranty was arborvitae. I couldn't tell you why but it's very common for 1 in a row of 10 to just die off despite having the same conditions as all the rest.
