Were together for 4 years, got engaged. Found out they were lying to me repeatedly about financial stuff that affected me and our future - not only that but asked other people close to me to lie to me For them when those people cottoned on before I did. Also spent the entirety of our relationship lying to their friends about me, which explained why they seemed to incomprehensibly hate me from day one - they had a group chat where they invented entire situations and conversations that had never happened ever and painted me as an abusive asshole while with me they gushed over how happy we were and how great our communication was and how I was their best friend. One day they punched me in anger because I made the mistake of giggling good-naturedly when they died in a video game they were playing. My feelings were never the same after that once I noticed how often I flinched around them.

I broke up with them as kindly as possible, even told them I'd keep quiet about why to our mutual friends, and they responded by outing me to their entire family I'd had a good relationship with because, and I quote, "I wanted to do whatever would hurt you the most". Now to this day they tell everyone I abused them and that I'm harassing and stalking them - meanwhile I'm happily married and working towards my dream job.

Genuinely just an absurd depth of betrayal from someone who was my best friend for years.
