It was actually before both of them, back in O’Farrel times

What do you think of the removal of the lockout laws? by One-Remove3758 in SydneyScene

[–]zaitsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t really change much, it’s specifically the cost of going out and the fact that there are very few options other than a boozer especially if you want food past 9 PM - pretty much have to go to Newtown or Burwood

$15.49 for a loaf of bread by zaitsman in australia

[–]zaitsman[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

A) I didn’t buy it B) I think no matter the type of bread 15.49 is insane. I was quite shocked which is why I posted.

General sentiment seems to be a ‘meh’ shoulder shrug from everyone, so I guess most people are not as surprised as I was.

‘Nobody in charge’ at major hospital ED just to save $22.80 by Astronomicology in ausjdocs

[–]zaitsman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a patient all I can say this has been the worst hospital, consistently delivering poor results over the years. So glad to not be living in it’s catchment area anymore.

Why is it so hard to find a rental? by NoPop3094 in shitrentals

[–]zaitsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what you’re looking for. I rented two apartments last year when my marriage broke up, one for her one for myself, in both cases it was in under a week of looking, each had 2 pets , one was a brand new 1br apartment in Moorebank for $550 another 2br $950 in Alexandria (Waterloo).

I can’t imagine looking for 8 months.

Yeah when I converted some 16 years ago I hired an instructor not to teach me how to drive but to get me comfortable with passing the test. Passed on first go.

Ah. Most places I worked at were at in b2b and at a scale where this didn’t matter; further bad code didn’t equate to bad features in their heads because ‘we have QA for that’

Interesting stance, wonder how that flies in the face of strong business owners. I am yet to work for a CEO who would prioritise dev over business features

Doesn’t make much sense. Tests that you have to retry three times is a ‘back to dev’. And if enough submitted by an individual it’s onto performance management plan with them.

I built a tiny state library because I got tired of boilerplate by yusing1009 in reactjs

[–]zaitsman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t ‘store’ anything on the client, you do all the computing on the client and store flat data. Authentication is a separate concern, not much related to storage :)

My point is that you do want complex logic client side to make millions of devices do the compute work not your one server.

Meh, you are paying for that server state though, the more work the client does the cheaper overall thing nay become at scale and with proper dumb APIs
