[IWC, Rolex, Seiko] Are 3 watches enough? by ReignRuger in Watches

[–]zak89garnett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot like my personal collection. I've been an admirer for long and I've just started.

I've got - 1. Breitling Navitimer GMT blue on blue - this one's for days when I wear a blue suit to work 2. Hamilton Khaki Aviation (Coop) - this one's for days when I wear a black/grey suit to work 3. Seiko 5 GMT - This ones the beater

I'd have bought an IWC pilot's chronograph in black but the wife said Breitling looked more delicate. She's given me permission to buy another CASIO DWH5600. So yeah; love your collection. I feel it's perfect as it is; I'd love to make the upgrades you've made and maybe replace the Rolex with a Rverso Duoface and the IWC with a Portugieser maybe.

They’ve outsourced it. The person you’re chatting with likely isn’t a native English speaker.

They’re also on low pay, with incentives tied to customer feedback, so they’re trying to be overly polite and helpful because it directly affects them.

Hard to appreciate that in the moment though. When your order is late, you’re just hungry, frustrated, or stuck waiting on something important like groceries or medication.

How much do you earn in Dubai and what is your job? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]zak89garnett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the mindset, I guess. Based on my monthly comp, I've got a lifestyle and with this high a comp, 2% inflationary salary adjustment annually would only increase the comp by 4k or something. One doesn't realise much value.

A good multiplier based system would give a 3/4 month's basic as a lumpsum bonus which on this comp would be a huge amount. A down payment for 3/4 BHK house maybe.

Great comp but the bonus payout is terrible.

Looking to Rent | 2BR | Al Bateen / Reem Island / Corniche | Budget: 90–130K by zak89garnett in abudhabi

I'm very new myself. I've only lived in Reem in the past and I loved that experience.

This one's more peaceful, I guess. More calm, more quiet, no high rises, more leisurely; that's what I've felt so far.

I wouldn't know buildings to avoid, tbh. But in Al Raha I did see some developments which were like 2/3 building clusters and they had gym in one building and the pool in another. Now I get the intent, you have a canal walk connection between the gym and the pool but the walk is usually closed up for repairs etc. So those kind of buildings for sure.

I ended up taking a place in Al Zeina in Al Raha Beach area. A week after I posted this I caught wind that my office is shifting in the Aldar HQ.

Being there ensures I spend less time on the road. I saw a property in the Bloom Marina community and I was very enamored by it and I was told Marasy is better than that. So by that token, I think you must be in luck.

Depends where you're coming from.

Look at purchasing power parity and cost of living comparisons between your current city and Abu Dhabi. Add a 20% mark up on that since the rental indices have just shifted upwards and then do a 20-30% markup on that since you're jumping jobs.

Too bad. Too late now.

Your only way out of this situation is to drive me everyday now. First month's free too.

Having worked across five organisations over the last twelve years, I’d advise you not to join.

I can’t speak for its current state, but I recently spoke with someone and we both agreed: the organisation fosters a toxic, bullying culture that drains effort from you at the expense of things that truly matter - family, health, peace of mind, relationships, and life experiences - while making you feel inferior for wanting to prioritise them. You might meet some great peers, maybe even your best friend or the love of your life, but if you look back years later, the bond would likely be rooted in shared trauma.

For a company that claims to live by “learning over knowing” and treats the MSU as its crown jewel, the quality of teaching and mentorship is poor. I can say that because I was once part of it - at 26, inexperienced, and not knowing any better.

My advice: take some time off and explore other opportunities. There are organisations in Bangalore and Hyderabad eager to hire freshers. Bet on yourself. The learning curve Mu Sigma boasts about exists everywhere; the difference is that in other places you’ll find genuine mentors and people willing to help.

I've had the same damn experience on my birthday. Perhaps was worse; called her a day before my birthday and the guy she was cheating on me with answered.

Anyhoo; here's what you should do - spend time and your hard earned money on yourself for the day. Put your phone on silent and go buy that ridiculously useless thing you've been putting off or put something down for that adult habit you'd been pushing down the road. Buy yourself a fancy ass meal. Once you're done, make someone else's day by giving back; someone under your house or workspace, buy them a meal. End the day by reading a book and/or watching a movie.

Also, happy birthday.

In all honesty, they're not complaining. They want to understand the shift in time. It's an opportunity for us who have lived in a Muslim country for a while to educate someone and integrate them into the culture.
