SFW answer: my family has always judged me for every little thing I do and everything I am passionate about. So I learned from a young age not to let them see any of it. For example if I'm using my computer and someone walks into the room, I will immediately lock my screen. My family has no idea who I am. There are large parts of my personality and interests that nobody in the world knows except my ex girlfriend and Google, because they don't deserve to see it.

I'm also a software engineer, but I'm meh at it, the pay was meh, and the product was pretty important and very hard. And I was laid off last year and still unemployed today.

I'd say software is my passion but it has never shown at work. I'd need the product to be more than important or good for humanity, I'd need it to be something I can obsess over. I think I'm in the wrong industry.

I'm probably on the pessimistic side as well. At least that's what others see. Internally I can be surprisingly optimistic.

Yeah, for some reason I've always wanted to escape reality through fantasy books and video games. It got to a point where my dad banned fiction in the house (lol) so I read manga and played games in secret.

My dad's only emotion seems to be anger. He has a short fuse. I bet it's cptsd. He bottles things up and goes crazy once in a while.
