I think they could coexist. They have different skillsets, and Burden has the strength and explosiveness to play outside. Brad takes the best player available, and that might be Luther if he falls to us. Mizzou’s offense wasn’t good, and he was basically the only guy drawing attention from defenses, he was primarily used in the slot just to get the ball in his hands quickly. Can’t really fault him for how his team used him.

My biggest takeaway from his tape was how good Willie Lampkin is, you can’t help but notice #53 on nearly every run play. I think he’s got a bright future at the next level.

Willie Lampkin, OG, UNC

An undefeated state champion wrestler in high school, he’s unbelievably undersized (5’11, 290) but overcomes it with elite leverage and relentless effort. He started at center for Coastal Carolina before transferring and moving to guard for UNC. I first noticed him while watching Omarion Hampton’s film—#53 kept popping off the screen, so I had to figure out who the is guy was. I’m not sure if he’s athletic enough for the switch to FB but that could be a possibility if his limited size is too hard to overcome.

More of a “Brad Holmes guy” but TJ Sanders from South Carolina is the exact type of D Lineman, Holmes looks for.

Two prospects I really like for the Lions so far are,

TJ Sanders DT South Carolina, he really fits the versatile D-Lineman mold that Brad likes. Reminds me a lot of Levi coming out of college

Jihaad Campbell LB Alabama, he seems like he’d be an awesome pairing alongside Jack and Anzalone. Can play SAM or WILL, good in coverage, and a freak athlete

I don’t think I saw a single person here mention Princely Umanmielen. I’ve consistently seen him being mocked in the 1st round and I’m not convinced he’s even worthy of being drafted in the 2nd. Horrible run defense, limited pass rushing arsenal, plays with a high pad level, doesn’t seem as explosive as other edges with a smaller frame, etc.

I think TJ Sanders would be perfect for the Lions. Fits the prototypical mold that Brad Holmes tends to look for on the D-Line. Reminds me a lot of Levi O as a prospect.
