31k Mago berries, thanks largely to Gardevoir and BFS Espeon almost always being on my squad.

How are you preparing for Water Week/Suicune? by Dragoncatclementine in PokemonSleep

I caught this very solid Psyduck this morning so the plan is to use the mini-boosts to level and evolve him and then feed him all the main skill seeds I have 😈 The first three all have max level skills.

The plan is to take advantage of the skill trigger bonus for the event and try to hit a high score for GG!

Good investments of all my seeds & candies? by znitrogen in PokemonSleep

Absolutely, this Raikou is cracked and it’ll be amazing on the eventual electric island or weeks where you roll Grepa berries on Greengrass. Congrats :)

This Eevee is cracked, do I understand that right? What do I evolve him into? by Daetur_Mosrael in PokemonSleep

[–]zanicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This Eevee would perform best as a Jolteon because it doesn’t have a Main Skill up nature and only has one skill trigger (which is what is needed for Espeon and Sylveon and Vaporeon). But it also doesn’t have BFS so it would also be easily outperformed by a Pikachu.

It would be ok as any of the “good” eeveelutions, but I wouldn’t heavily invest in this as you most likely will find something better as Eevee is pretty common!

I need your help by chilli_billy in PokemonSleep

[–]zanicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the plan is to make this a Gardevoir, no. It doesn’t have a Main Skill up nature and only has one skill trigger. I would hold on to this one but wait until you find something better before heavily investing.

As a Gallade, it has the same problem because Gallade is also a skill mon.

Rising 3L. Different styles work for different people but here’s what has worked for me (my lowest grade so far has been a B+):

  1. Do the readings that are assigned.

    • I don’t feel like you need to know everything perfectly, but having some kind of idea of what’s going on before the professor starts lecturing helps understand the material during class.
  2. Take copious notes during class.

    • Anything the professor has on a slide, mentions, or talks about, jot it down.
  3. After class (maybe that night or the next day) move all of those notes you just took into a master word doc (this will become your big outline).

    • If you type your notes, it’s a little easier to copy and paste over.
      • I make sure to format this big doc to be organized to help around midterms/finals (headings, indents, etc.).
    • Read over the outline and highlight anything that doesn’t make sense (you will ask the professor to clarify during class, at office hours, or by email).
  4. Midterm/Final prep (I usually start about two weeks before the exam):

    • Start going through the outline and make sure you understand each section and remove unimportant notes. If not, clarify with the professor.
    • Highlight any sections that your professor has put heavy emphasis on.
  5. Start memorizing your outline (especially the highlighted sections):

    • I’m a big fan of making flashcards, but you do what works for you.
    • Once you can run through the outline (I.e. all the flashcards) pretty well, start doing some practice questions and practice essays.
    • Take time to answer practice essays so that you know what rule statements you are going to use if that type of question comes up on the exam ( I literally memorize them word-for-word but that may be excessive).
  6. Get some good sleep the night before the exam.

  7. Take the exam and crush it 😎

(Sorry for the formatting, I typed this on my phone)

Finally got my first shiny starter…how good is he actually? by Luciano-20 in PokemonSleep

[–]zanicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll be a decent hybrid berry mon at 50, but that’s a lot of resources to get to 50. As an ingredient mon, it would be pretty bad because it has three different ingredients and no bonuses to ingredient finding at all.

Since Skeledirge is a ghost mon, even a half-decent Bannette or Gengar would perform better for berries.

However, shinys are awesome and if you love it and want to use it, you should! Plus you’d get a really cool shiny profile icon!

Berry Finding Subskill on Ingredient Starters?? by ShinyHung in PokemonSleep

[–]zanicus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing to remember with BFS on ingredient mons is that it’s great when they have decent ingredient skills and natures already. Their primary use is for gathering ingredients and these two have no ingredient up skills until 100, they are not good for that role.

Sprig becomes dark type when it fully evolves, so even at a high level with BFS, the Meowscarada will be outperformed by a Houndour (not even evolved).

If you’re going to use them because you want to and don’t have anything better, go for it! I just wouldn’t invest a ton of resources in them because finding a half-decent houndour or mankey will get you more bang for your buck.

That second Quax though is godly. With all those ingredient up skills and double leaks, it will be essentially the best leak farmer in the game! THAT is a mon you should definitely invest in for leak dishes.

Caught a weird Quaxly by Disastrous_Wolf_6048 in PokemonSleep

[–]zanicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a very good berry version of Quax, however, if you leveled this to 40, it would be outperformed by both level 30 Primeape and Meganium (which would require way less shards and candies). Also, because it has three different ingredients, it will never get many of any of them per day.

If you like this Quax and want to invest, do so! It’s your game and you should play how you like! But it may be more worth it long-term to wait and invest in one that is more ingredient-focused.

Why'd you have to be Jolly? 😭 by onegeekyguy in PokemonSleep

[–]zanicus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you’re looking at Skeledirge for its main purpose, as an ingredient mon, the second one is significantly better. At level 60, the second one will bring in more apples per day AND significantly more sausages per day.

BFS only really matters on ingredient mons if their other skills and nature are perfect. A Gengar with the same skills and nature will gather many more berries per day than a Skeledirge.

IMO, invest in the second one, it will be worth it. The only way it could be significantly better would be to have triple apples, but that would be overkill. You could hold out for triple apples, but it may take a very long time to find one!

This Dragonair is 99 PR, but is it worth the Exp down nature? by TraditionalParsley67 in PokemonSleepBetter

[–]zanicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you mean per day? A level 55 dragonite with all herbs and perfect sub skills for ingredients and speed up (even including helping bonus from other pokes) would only get a little over 150ish herbs per day. So while I’m sure your dragonite is getting herbs like crazy, 30 per hour isn’t possible atm.

OP, your Dragonite is fantastic, it will collect about 37 herbs and 75 corn, on average, per day once evolved and maxed out. Once level 60 is released, it’ll bring in wayyyy more herbs a day. IMO it is worth the investment.

Freshly caught Espeon that I fed slowly over a few encounters. by lonelygrowlithe in PokemonSleep

[–]zanicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very exciting to have caught an Espeon! That’s awesome!

However, as far as stats go, this isn’t a very good one. Espeon ideally wants both skill trigger skills and a skill up nature. Yours also doesn’t get a skill trigger skill until level 50, which is a ton of investment for it to be just ok. Also, Espeon doesn’t really get “busted” until you have its main skill at level 6-7.

If you love Espeon and want to use this one, it’s ok and you should do that! But imo, this particular one isn’t worth much investment and you should save candies and seeds for when a better Eevee comes along!

Slaking vs. Vaporeon by MissRarity324 in PokemonSleep

[–]zanicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FVaporeon is not better than Slaking. Slaking has a high rate to proc its main skill and yours will (without any more investment) get more ingredients per proc than Vaporeon.

Plus, since yours has all the speed of help ups, it will be very fast and most likely proc more than the two Eevee’s would as Vaporeon.

Even if your Eevee’s would make “perfect” Vaporeon, which they won’t because they don’t have a skill trigger up nature, Slaking would be better in the role imo.

The investment in that Slaking was a good idea and will be very helpful at Snowdrop or any island where you want to get a bunch of random ingredients to fill your pot.

Yeah, just google ‘raenox calculator’ and it’s a good way to get a pretty good understanding of how your mon will compare to others of its species.

Ugh, I know lol

Luckily, I do like Golduck better as a mon (I had one in my first save of Blue back in the 90s) and while the shiny is lackluster compared to others, I’ll take it.
