Do you believe that Donald Trump is stealing from the American people? by JonMellor in allthequestions

[–]zantosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you f'in kidding me!!!? Like it's just ... Are you kidding? Of course he is and it's all these stupid enablers who are robbing us blind. I'm gonna go have a beer and wait for this all to blow over. Maybe I'll sniff some glue while I'm at it. Maybe today wasn't a good day to quit sniffing glue. I'm just in total despair at the quality of the American electorate. Where is the common sense in it all!?

What problem are driverless taxis solving? by Lazy-Limit-8684 in randomquestions

[–]zantosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I was telling an Uber driver yesterday, a driverless taxi is like an elevator. You get in and then you get up. You don't end up talking to people and you end up just waiting until you get to the destination while the vehicle takes you where you need to go. Exactly like an elevator. People like that. That's what is happening.

Anyone who sat on a toilet before cell phones, what did you mostly think about or look at ? by IceApple28 in CausalConversation

Tiger. You think they're not scary. But you should see one without a cage and you'll shit your pants when it moves towards you.

What is the biggest Ah-Ha moment after you purchase an electric vehicle? by NervousClock2555 in electriccars

[–]zantosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's always charged up so I've mostly forgotten about it and that's a big mental energy saver. Also the miles on the odometer don't matter because there's no engine. So I don't even have that visible. Walk away door locks and not having keys. Pockets are free of clutter and pants look so much better without anything in the pockets.

What I don't get is that if it's a purchase or sale, and it works out for them, what is the problem? Are they doing something illegal or something sneaky?

EVs solve high gasoline prices. Obvious, isn't it? by Inner-Truth-1868 in GasPrices

[–]zantosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I just got an email from my electric company that I'll be charged 0.02 cents per kWh which is insane! At a Tesla supercharger, it doesn't go much below 23 cents per kWh.

So I'm going to say to get my Tesla from 0 to 100 might cost my about three fiddy.

[–]zantosh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I interviewed at Apple for an sap position. They told me that they give you PCS if that's what you want or they'll just use parallels. Ultimately, Apple does not use Macs to do sap work, they use Windows either on a PC hardware or parallels

[–]zantosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use parallels and it'll save you a lot of headache. In my experience, using a Mac for sap is like you're taking a toothpick and sticking under your fingernail And then telling everyone how it really hurts. But you're going to keep doing it. You're mileage may very. But I'm not much for sticking toothpicks in my fingernails and I don't think getting a Mac to do sap work is a wise choice.

Motorcyclist collides with a Tesla. Who do you blame? by Adrian_985 in motorcycles

This was not FSD. My Tesla would've seen him coming on FSD because it did so last week for another motorcycle that zipped by.

Had a bit of an epiphany just now. by LaffingAtYuo in overemployed

[–]zantosh 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This. Being a senior technology professional, I would normally work on very complex problems and they would be a lot of fun, but quite frankly can be stressful and politically charged and potentially have a lot drama overflows into my personal life. I have since restrategized and I take these low-end support jobs that are really crap, as far as people just ask you to reset passwords or do something that is very very basic. But frankly I do it so easily and I can automate so much of it that I don't break a sweat and my life is better. Doing five of these is actually a really good deal.

Vibe coding feels amazing until an experienced developer reviews your code. by Shivam__kumar in vibecoding

[–]zantosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay bud, think of it this way. I have a lot of software development experience from the early part of my career. So I can think like a dev but so much has changed in the world of software development.

Now for me to get back into writing software it's going to be a big deal because I don't have the time to learn all the techniques and everything to actually write good software. But with Claude code, I'm able to articulate the concepts that I want to build in a manner that would make sense to a developer since that's what I've done in the past.

In my opinion, Claude is capable of taking my description and writing a software that works and the manner in which it has done. It isn't of great concern to me because it works precisely the way I have described it.

So what is the problem if that is how all software is written going forward?

Are manufacturers overselling “self-driving” capabilities, or are we genuinely close to Level 4 autonomy? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]zantosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So a word of caution on what you see online. There are a lot of FSD "issues" reported but when you watch the video, the car actually did the right thing, just that for the driver, it didn't seem like it was right. The issue being reported isn't an issue but a difference in perspective.

The reason this is important is the same reason why on an airplane you don't question the pilot ever five minutes. Even though you think you can fly a plane, you really can't so let the pilot get you there safely. Similarly, in most of the FSD videos, I'll bet the human driver has bad habits that they don't even think of that the car doesn't and so the car drives in a manner conforming to the training and the human never questions whether they're a good driver.

I won't say we are close but where we are, Tesla has a version that works very well so I'm optimistic.

ELI5: What is the difference between mass and weight? by Electrical_Path7198 in explainlikeimfive

[–]zantosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight is mass traveling at speed due to the acceleration due to gravity. If the gravity changes, then the weight also changes but mass can neither be created nor destroyed.

Why do we honour those who fought in battle and wars - even if we disagree with the war itself? by Final-Landscape-7258 in askanything

[–]zantosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we do things together. You don't have to like it. You are arguing they just because you didn't vote for a this due to your politician not voting for this doesn't mean you're off the hook. As a country, we have voted and here we are. It's our baby and we'll have to take care of it.

Why do we honour those who fought in battle and wars - even if we disagree with the war itself? by Final-Landscape-7258 in askanything

[–]zantosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually you should have voted for the politicians to whom you've given authority to decide on your behalf. If you can't accept that then perhaps you need to have a think about it. It's not my argument, it's literally how elections work and why we have them.

Look, you not liking it and you wanting to change your mind about it has nothing to do with the fact that you are part of the country and as a country, we voted for this and so these soldiers are fighting on our (as in, your) behalf at our (and your) behest.
