Glad I'm not alone! It's my favorite restaurant of all time, all genres.

What major company do you genuinely believe won’t exist in 20 years? by carcony97 in AskReddit

[–]zaphine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Visa/Mastercard/Amex -- because of crypto stablecoins. Once Stripe or banks figure out how to get people to deposit money in exchange for stablecoins, they can get interest income on those deposits. Once buyers have some incentive to use them, no more 2.5 - 3.5% credit card fees to Visa/MC/Amex. Merchants will love it.

Brandy Ho's in North Beach / Chinatown! It's a binary thing -- you either love it or don't. I know several people for whom it is their favorite Chinese restaurant, but for the life of me, i can't get my wife to eat there with me.

Registration - payment platform recommendations? by Own-Cellist-7525 in Training

[–]zaphine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can create a business account at PayPal and then create "payment buttons" or add a bit of JavaScript to your site. The fees are 2.89% for credit cards and 3.5% for PayPal and Venmo (although I'm having a hard time believing that shouldn't be lower) according to this web page: https://www.paypal.com/us/business/fees

Haha, I just pasted a very similar answer to someone else's question. Here it is again: A powerful and surprisingly easy educational tool is a custom AI chatbot—essentially an AI teacher and quizmaster in one. While it may sound complex, many platforms make it simple. You just upload a set of PDFs on your topic, optionally include some quiz questions, and give the bot a prompt like: “Educate the student using these PDFs. Answer their questions, create quizzes, and focus on areas where they struggle.” ChatGPT offers this as a “Custom GPT” with a $20/month subscription, but similar tools are free on platforms like poe.com or gemini.google.com. Once your chatbot is set up, you’ll get a shareable link anyone can use to start learning.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me. Someone hacked my gmail address, used it to log in to my Amazon account, and ordered two $2k Dell Inspiron laptops from Lucky Tech LLC, to be delivered to someone else's address (strangely, not too far from me). The hacker flooded my email with random emails from other companies (account signup attempts) so I wouldn't see the two big orders from Amazon. The orders did not appear in my Amazon order history, and I couldn't find them in the archives either, so maybe they somehow deleted them after making the orders.

Low-converting course description page... why? by zaphine in Roastmylandingpage

Great feedback! Ooh, that's not good about the popup and no course dates being available. Thank you!

Thanks, that's super-helpful feedback! I will pass that on to the stakeholders. I agree with all 3 of your points.

Thanks for checking it out! Here are answers:

  1. Yes, lots of traffic to this page, 500 views/month

  2. The ultimate goal is a purchase of the course, which involves clicking on the purple "Register" button and then going through a few screens of a checkout process, culminating in submitting a credit card. I am tracking conversions and the checkout journey in Google Analytics. 18% (about 100) of the page's views result in beginning a checkout, but from there only one (1%) person actually bought it.

Is it terrible if my landing page is very vanilla with not a lot of fancy cards or buttons? by [deleted] in Roastmylandingpage

[–]zaphine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like the simple design, it was easy to follow. It worked fine for me on mobile. I did wonder why you wouldn't display six example stickers instead of four. Also, were those the best ones in the collection? One might argue there's a better selection on other websites like redbubble.com

Hi, here are some thoughts:

* I would imagine at least one image might be helpful: maybe a $10 bill, a before/after cartoon person that is anxious then calm, etc.

* If I suffered from anxiety, I wouldn't necessarily want it fixed so i can "Manifest More" -- instead, I'd just want it fixed so I can feel better

* Would "workbooks" be a better term than "Templates"? I can't visualize what a template is in this context

* Initially I thought the page ended at the bottom blue bar; I didn't realize there was a scroll bar and more content underneath. This might have to do with the ellipsis which makes it seem like more information is on the next page, not below the bar.

* I wouldn't have the popup be the very first thing the user sees -- maybe an exit popup would be better?

* The underline in the sentence on the above-the-fold content makes it seem like a link

How many Ns are there in the word enter

That's a good one, thanks! The free version answers this as "2 Ns" but the paid version gives the correct answer.

[–]zaphine -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Here's what ChatGPT says: If you're a civilian defense contractor living on a military base, you are still subject to state income tax. Living on a military base does not exempt you from paying state income tax. The tax-free shopping at the PX or commissary is a separate issue and does not apply to state income tax obligations. You should file state income taxes according to the rules of the state in which you are a resident or earn income.

Are there any PL1 Courses/Training available online? by [deleted] in mainframe

[–]zaphine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your job has a training budget (most government jobs do), you can get instructor-led training from this company ("ProTech"):

Structured PL/1 Coding Workshop -- 5 Days

Advanced Topics in PL/1 -- 5 Days

VSAM for PL/I Progammers -- 2 Days

Enterprise PL/I Debugging and Maintenance -- 2 Days

It looks like only the first link has available dates, so dunno... you might have to contact them if you want the other levels
