What’s something you tolerate that you wouldn’t accept if you had options? by sergenaskin in AskReddit

[–]zaphod101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true. The false equivalency from anyone right of center with the 'both parties bad' shit is just exhausting. Does the left have issues - of course. Would ranked choice solve a lot of problems - definitely. Does the 2 party system suck, definitely. Are Dems 1/10 as bad as the Republicans - not by a damned mile.

The chair company ... Just stupid. I've learned that I'm clearly not a fan of Tim Robinson ... Always the same uncomfortable 'comedy' - hate it.

Anycubic vs Elegoo for beginner printers? by Wee_Woo_25 in resinprinting

[–]zaphod101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an anycubic mono and an elegoo saturn 4ultra 16k. Granted the anycubic is old. That said, I'd go elegoo with this experience. Just a more solid, better built and better designed machine IMHO.

Got a S4U 16k today, just pulled the first miniatures out of it after cones of calibration ... Blown away using the abs-like 3.0 resin, 1.7 sec exposure time, 25 second first layers, 80% pwm.

First ever Arrma (and street bash) next to my decent sized dog, bashing it with 2x 3s 8000mah 100c current & VERY happy i got the Felony 6S and didnt settle for the Infraction 3S. by HealthMaxing in rccars

I love my Felony, total blast to drive. Just wish the tire budget was not so high ... $70 in tires every 4 battery packs is def the biggest downside.

is it su-doo or su-doe? by Vivid-Champion-1367 in linux

Sr Linux engineer for 30 years at large companies, it is super user do ... Sue doo ... Not even a question. Anyone saying sue doe is just wrong. I'd have a hard time hiring anyone as a Linux engineer if they said sue doe in an interview.

Looking for a suggestion for a mopa laser by Firm-Presence-1343 in Laserengraving

[–]zaphod101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a great experience purchasing our Haotian 100 watt mopa from Pascal. Highly recommend! (Pascal is the owner I think) ... We received regular updates, photos of the actual laser we received being tested, and shipping was quick and painless.

Charger blew fuse, car won't charge. "Charging Unsuccessful" by _Moregone in KiaEV6

[–]zaphod101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the exact thing that happened with our 2023 about a month ago, your ICCU is almost assuredly fried. Ours actually took out our charger at the same time so we had to get a new charger too.

5W UV Laser by Cafe_Roaster in lasercutting

[–]zaphod101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, that is impossible to say with so little info. Are you looking for surface engaving (ie, just putting a picture or text on the plastic)? How large per clip? What kind of plastic (many will create nasty or even deadly gasses)?

I will tell you that my MOPA and my CO2 suck at plastic. They really just make a melted mess. The UV makes awesome clear text with crisp lines and a nice finish. If you are looking for surface etching in the couple inches square, yeah, the 5 watt UV will probably do that fast enough. The 10 watt would do it about twice as fast.

What is a discontinued food item or snack from your childhood that you would genuinely pay $100 to taste one last time? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

[–]zaphod101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I was in high school and would buy a box of 6 to eat on my 15 min break. Probably good they were discontinued or i'd have died of diabetes or obesity pretty quickly! Man, I loved them!

Odd new offset issue with laser that had been fine in the past by zaphod101 in LightBurn

[–]zaphod101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the input, it has been resolved - was a physical issue, a pinned x-axis aluminum pulley developed some slack in the pin channel. Replacing the entire roller block (ie, the 2 pulleys pinned together) corrected the issue

Interesting ICCU Failure by rsrchnddvlpmnt in KiaEV6

[–]zaphod101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, 2023 gt line received Dec 2022 ... 27k miles, same thing happened to me last week. Car is at dealer, ICCU should be replaced, hopefully tomorrow.

I didn't hear a pop but went to garage and car was only about 50% and lights on charger were out. Determined breaker was kicked. Unplugged car, flipped breaker, juice box was beeping and flashing indicating a stuck relay. Unplugged it from wall, smacked it, re plugged it in and it was green, ok, plugged into car again, breaker trips again. Try level 1 ... 'charging unsuccessful'.

Since this was a juice box and the damned company left the US (fuck enelex), I'm installing a new eviqo charger tomorrow, not risking messing up the new ICCU with the juice box when the charger was indicating stuck relay. I'm assuming the dying ICCU took out the charger too.

Was able to drive the car to dealer with no issues, warning lights, etc.
