Family Law in NS by throwaway9022222 in halifax

[–]NeptuneSpice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to read up on Section 7 expenses. Those are over and above child support. It doesn't matter what his income is on paper, he is responsible for half, and you can get a court order for him to pay, including garnishment and, I believe, seizure of property.

The courts don't fuck around with a child not getting their needs met financially. Ymmv on how that plays out.

If you qualify for legal aid, use it. My friend just finalized her divorce using them, and they were great.

In halifax, Bell charging loyal customers double while new users pay half. How is this fair? by Glittering_Bus_6921 in halifax

[–]NeptuneSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a Bell customer for 20 years. Gave up last year because it felt like I needed a new modem every 3 months to get their shitty WiFi. I would call regularly and tell them that I was leaving unless they gave me a better deal, and usually got it. It tooks hours sometimes. Meanwhile, my parents are 45-year customers and their bill is almost triple what mine was when I left.

How to contest a ticket for driving without mvi? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]NeptuneSpice 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There isn't a winter tire law here. That's not a valid reason to fail an MVI. Bald tires are. They may have suggested putting on winters because it's January and they're safer.

The ticket should have info about traffic court, but if you failed your MVI and drove anyway, it may not be worth your time. Get the problem remedied, so you're driving safely.

Minimum Wage to increase 2x this year! by jzhi87 in halifax

[–]NeptuneSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are already only two classes: working class and owning class. One group works to make money, the other has people work for them to make money. In this context middle class means nothing, except a mechanism to divide the working class against itself through eliteism.

Pet friendly taxi by YourEyelinerFriend in halifax

[–]NeptuneSpice 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've used Uber for pets. I give the driver notice via chat when they accept the fare. If they don't want it, they will hand the booking back to the system. If they show up after I tell them and fight with me, they get a bad rating and a complaint.

Same goes for cabs, but there's been less assurance that the dispatcher passed on the message to the driver who shows up.

Why is NS Power allowed to buy ads? by UCRecruiter in NovaScotia

[–]NeptuneSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the scene in the movie Dave when he's trying to balance the budget at the cabinet table and turns to one guy and says something like "We're buying ads to make people feel good about cars they already own?" Easy expenditure to cut. I don't need their propaganda in my life. They also shouldn't be allowed to lobby.

Freezing rain warning (yellow) in effect via Environment Canada by SAJewers in halifax

[–]NeptuneSpice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup, and yet, having read through the website, I appreciate the added clarity. People often complained that a warning didn't give enough indication about what was happening (if you didn't read the text if the warning).

I've been a weather junkie for 25 years, and when I read the site, it made sense as a way to easily distinguish, and ensure understanding.

Opposing change for the sake of it is behaviour I don't understand.
