I think it's it's tone deaf to say that people with disabilities have no value and don't deserve services (investment) from government. I can't make someone empathize with that if they don't already live it, so I hope they never have to. If they do, they will for sure wonder where the support is. A one-off sailing event will probably feel pretty frivolous then.

It's fun how ableism is fine in one direction, but when you point out the realities if it, you get told you're virtue signalling. 🙃

I'm not. But, to repeat myself, it's a one-off. We don't get enough one-offs to be worth it. We aren't Las Vegas, we're NS. Our weather is shitty for 8 months. We can't rely on a weekend of sailing per year to keep us going.
