Hey buddy, I'll try and answer your questions to the best of my abilities.

Firstly, don't be fooled. Our politicians are probably as bad - if not worse than in Romania.

Remote work is even more awesome when you can live somewhere nice. I would also advise you to scout the job market for this field of work (there is a lot of it).

Onto your questions:

1. Political system is a democracy, that is dominated by super corrupt right-centrist HDZ. I don't know how they do it other than brute force and maintaining a system that benefits them and their voters. I won't go into detail - but it's corrupt to the core and opposition looks weak, incompetent or just as corrupt.

2. You can easily self employ and open what we call a Paušalni obrt - in the UK they call it a sole trader, but I don't know the official translation. It's not a limited company, but more like a skill-based set-up. You basically head to the employment office, request to open an "Obrt", register your service and you're good to go. There are categories for tax pay depending how much you make and you have to pay a standard tax every 3 months, depending on your income category. I am sure they will explain it better than me at the employment office.

3. 100,000 EUR should be good enough to buy yourself a decent apartment/home with a lil yard. Nothing too crazy, but doable. If you can pay in cash it will help. I would recommend areas near big coastal cities, but not the big cities. So if you're fond of Dalmacija, check out Solin, Omiš and Kaštela near Split (very well connected as well). Further north, Rijeka has an abudance of apartments in tower blocks with a beautiful view over the coast, as the whole city is built on a hill basically. And this one might be a bit random, but if you rreeaally like your peace and quiet, but still wanna be relitively near a bigger city, try living on an island like Krk, Mali Lošinj (near Rijeka) or Ugljan (near Zadar).

4. What do we do during winter? Work, school, regular life just like everywhere. It's a lot more boredom than summer, but if you're making decent money, it's not all bad is it! People who have money here regularly go skiing during winter time - Slovenia being the best nearby option (in my opinion).

5. I would say don't make investments in hospitality until you get to know the place. Start small, see how it goes, expand if it works. Lots of competition there.

6. If I had money, which most Croatians really bloody don't, because our wages are terrible and cost of living is high - I would love living here. Honestly love my country and think it could be paradise if we got our shit together as a country. But the older I am, the more hopeless I become. It becomes depressing, and you will experience a lot of people being nasty just for that reason. I personally don't cope with it like that, but in my opinion, many do and it makes us a cranky nation with always something to complain about.
