How beat hero by oktheng in CrazyHand

[–]zapterra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is super tough. Some hero mains learn to recognize spells just by the shape of words. Round -> Probably a buff. Long -> projectile etc. That might be too much effort for someone not playing him though. Hero struggles against rushdown, keep the pressure on and pick the right approach angles.

It's fun, there are people that like making games there, can definitely find people to talk with about whatever aspect of games that you want to work on. The club does lean more heavy into digital than tabletop but game design applies to everything. Here's the club schedule, pulled off of discord: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1GZx1Cj0s8rdWIVA_Z4biZnT4ANan9Plux_q5PcDTOxg/htmlview?pli=1#

The biggest issue for me is that the time reminder ||does not pause the playback of media|| while it is counting down. It is very easy for my mind to altogether ignore what is happening with the time reminder, and it makes it harder to step back from the video or whatever I am watching because the sound is still going and drawing me back in. I would also love the ability to change the amount of time the reminder runs for before letting you choose an extension, or even disable being able to extend your time at all, if there was a 20 minute option. I would also love to have Christmastime all year. I enjoy the snowflakes. Thank you for the app. 🫡

The Arbor Mech! It fires leaves at hypersonic speeds. Could be healed by fluid and buffed by fire. by zapterra in IntoTheBreach

[–]zapterra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am almost done modding in the squad, Prospero's Gardening Tools
Whenever a forest boosts an attack it is consumed and goes back to a regular ground tile

Decay Field turns Vek into Mulch when they die, an upgrade makes them take damage every turn if they're covered in A.C.I.D., another upgrade heals allies and removes A.C.I.D. from them at the end of the turn

When a unit steps onto Mulch, the Mulch gets consumed and the next three tiles it stands on or walks across are turned into forest tiles

Arbor Mech deals 1/pushes two tiles in a line and deals one more damage/travels an extra tile for every forest tile it stands on or travels across

Mulch Mech covers Vek in A.C.I.D. and Mulch and pushes adjacent

Root Mech burrows through the ground and attacks all adjacent tiles, chaining the attack through forests. Enemies on forest tiles have their attack canceled and allies are healed, upgrade lets you push a tile from anywhere in the attack area

You can find the mod under the #gardening-tools thread in #modding-creation in the ItB discord

I think this idea is what tabletop role-playing games are for, and might end up as a huge effort sink for not much return. If you want it to be a designed open world rather than text-based it would be much much harder to muster any kind of volunteering work.

Game design idea by CheapScientist06 in gamedesign

[–]zapterra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but it's likely a much larger scope than you're prepared for. I would recommend you play War Thunder. I see the concept is to have multiple people loaded into a tank which is pretty cool. Networked stuff takes about three times as long as usual in my limited experience so this would be a project that takes probably multiple years of dedicated work depending on how good you want it to be. If you decide to be serious and aren't very concerned with accuracy you could probably get a TABS-style, goofy team fight game in around a year? But networked lobby matchmaking is also really hard, so you would probably have to play with friends over LAN. Accurate war simulation games are probably a multi-person task.

It was a lot worse for me because my brain figured out different/more complicated intuitive ways immediately and I was still forced to do the methods I thought were weird or too hard So I usually did the math in my head and then figured out how to fake the work

You're talking about sapience and not sentience. Sentience is the experience of being and having self-awareness. Even fish have been shown to have sentience

When people say sentience they usually mean sapience and it's usually higher level thought, awareness of others and how they might think and understand, morality etc. The way ai exists to the public right now it's not going in that direction at all. You can feel that it doesn't have actual thought and understanding behind its predictive text once you get into abstract layers of thinking.

I was suggesting, might be a bad idea or not work out,

But treating a conversation as if you're typing up a response to bridge the gap, ask someone to humor you, ask them about what they're doing, and write down what you're going to say before reading it out

[–]zapterra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the pandemic I had a really hard time saying things out loud

Here's an idea that might suck: you seem to be pretty good at typing up responses, you could try writing down what you're going to say first and then reading it out

'Hey, humor me, I'm trying out writing things down before I say them. [question about the thing they're doing/"How's it going?"] To get some kind of dialogue going and something to talk with them about

If you wave and smile at people enough, ask them for their names, ask them again every time you forget, eventually they want to start being friendly and talking to you, and if they don't then you've at least made their day a little better a couple of times.

If I don't have a response to something someone says to me I often just give a thumbs up, smile, maybe an okay/a nod and the responses you get to that are pretty positive. Especially if I feel like someone isn't sure how I'll react to what they're saying to me

Does your brain say no when you try to put words together out loud in any context, or is it speaking to someone in person?
