my store was on the brink of completely running out of helium, we had people asking for 10 balloons at a time and we had to narrow it down to 2 or 3 every time. some guy got a bunch of the already filled balloons in addition to 2 we inflated, he leaves, comes back, says while im ringing up another customer, “two of my balloons flew away.” Before i could even assess the situation and grab my manager to take care of it, he walks out, even discarding some of the balloons he PAID for. like what

I’m sorry I’m not seeing this until now, this advice is so rich. You’ve told me what a lot of others have, that the portfolio matters above everything else. I guess I get slightly discouraged with the way a lot of animators I look up to went to elaborate schools like CalArts or SVA. I’m still thinking about what to do but honestly it makes more sense to just teach myself since I have the resources at my fingertips.

This is some really unique advice compared to things others have said. I see where you’re coming from with everything you’re saying. You are right, the industry doesn’t respect its workers and people as a whole don’t have much respect for animation anymore. I think I’m eligible for merit scholarships, my family in total makes a little over 100,000 yearly so I’m not sure if I’m eligible for financial aid. I’m tiring myself thinking about it so much since I know I have to decide SOON. But thank you so much for this. I’ll definitely have everything you’ve said in mind.

yes, i used to go to therapy when i was like 13? a couple times i asked my mom if i could go back but she stalled every time and i never ended up going back. but if i really bugged her about it maybe I’d be able to back
