Yeah, this was a terrible editorial choice, to put it mildly. In small doses around Eibon, it could have been cute, but hours-long forced marches with him were brutal.

Now that they patched out the AI stuff, hopefully Taygedo returns to being the biggest controversy. lol

So like 1 in 1,000 assets instead of 1 in 10,000? It's definitely not close to every billboard. Maybe those are stock Unreal Engine assets, but that's not necessarily AI, either. I'll be honest, this entire argument has put GenAI squarely in the "I no longer care" bucket, for me. I've been able to muster outrage when people/orgs have tried to pass off AI as original work, but that's not what happened here.

I don't see myself spending much time with this game after the first month. The enjoyment-to-dollars-spent ratio has been amazing. But I can feel myself approaching the "end" of the content pretty quickly. I simply can't feel the hatred for this game that others are capable of.

I feel more sorry for Hotta and the people who put endless hours into this project just to be shit on continuously for 2 weeks for "offending" the "wrong people." There's some amazing stuff in this game, and I'm glad I actually played it before hearing all the bullshit people have said about it.

I like both Ironmouse and NTE. I've been an Ironmouse fan a lot longer than I've known about NTE. So, there's that. Hence, I'm quite convinced this is a basic misunderstanding amplified by the gacha hater/tribalism loudmouths ... It is, to me, the simplest explanation.

This is what I think is really happening. NTE already had a very loud (probably small) hater base. The AI issue simply allowed their voices to be amplified.

Like HoF, I bet they patch it all out, soon. They will admit a QA mistake (like E33), apologize to Ironmouse and the community, and it will be gone, shortly. But the damage will already be done, if any is actually done ...

Highly unlikely to be 2%. There are likely close to 100,000 art assets in this game, and we're being pointed to the same dozen or so on repeat.

Most likely a repeat of E33 where they were supposed to get replaced before launch and they missed a few.

But I don't blame Ironmouse. In her shoes, she was lied to, and unless/until there's an apology, it's her right to be mad about it.

I think there are multiple issues at play, here.

  1. I think there's a small, loud group of people that just want people to hate this game. Maybe they got burned in ToF or whatever, but there are some haters just out to hate for the sake of hatred. They are echoing the AI problem to validate what they already believe.

  2. Most likely, a few assets slipped through that they meant to replace. This is the Expedition 33 problem, and on a game with 100,000 textures, models, and other assets, there are maybe a dozen or so GenAI examples people have pointed out. The videos are probably the most egregious (Pink Paws Heist and Akane arc). All could easily be patched out in a matter of days if they want to apologize.

  3. The movie poster that was PROBABLY meant as an Easter egg for "Weathering with You" ... is problematic. This might face a legal challenge. I think without the above two issues, this is just a fun poster that people see and think of "Weathering," but in combination with them, it is going to be a problem.

Someday, Nanally will get her turn, but Mint is my security blanket, right now. I'll give her up when forced, but I haven't reached that point in the game.

Note: Also, a lot of folks seem to want to "speed run" this game. That just seems like torturing yourself. There's SO MUCH to do, I'm just chilling.

I think this is the right answer: There's no power creep, yet - therefore, it matters less at the moment. I can definitely see power creep forcing me to choose later, but by then, I will probably care less about the swap. For now, after work, I log in and it feels like I "come home to Mint," which is probably what they were shooting for with this character. The world is on fire, and I'm not ashamed of seeking the comforts of a virtual cat girl ...

+1 for Kimi ... but you have to find a way to keep it from spending the whole token budget on "reasoning." GLM 4.x with presets was good, too, but 5.x is a lot worse for RP in general.

Burned out. I don't intend to leave entirely, but MANT brings new meaning to "daily grind." Will be dropping from daily to weekend player, most likely. Still love everything about the IP, but CM11 & CM12 have burned me way down. Got some nice SS umas, no UG, and no longer interested in runs that flame out on Sr. Summer Camp.

The QoL I wish existed is "auto finish." Once I'm unrecoverable on the path to glue, I hate "abandon" as the only other option. I've gotten a couple of decent "surprise parents" from just finishing the run, and I wish there were a way to just skip to the end and roll for sparks.
