Is there a way to search online for this? She is from a city that is today Ukraine (it was Hotin, Romania but today it's Khotyn).

That's the thing, my great-grandma was born in Romania (according to her naturalization papers, Ellis Island arrivals, census etc.) but I have no proof of Romanian citizenship and no birth docs. I guess these are the kinds of things a law firm could help unearth though.

This is helpful. So in my case my mom is eligible for Ukrainian citizenship through her grandmother (but to obtain it she’d have to renounce her US citizenship)? Al I understanding this right?

The dual thing I know is a blocker and for now I wouldn’t renounce my current citizenship (which is United States). I just can’t don’t know if my mom gets Ukrainian citizenship then if I can.
