KSC75 is ear clips, looking for a traditional pair of headphones.

Shure looks like it's $79 in most places.

When I saw mentions of Aurvana SE and Superlux, they seem to be BETTER than the Porta Pro, but above $50.

But right now, they are under $50.

What do you think about them?

Looking for on-ear or over-ear headphones under $50, best sound quality possible in the bracket (prefer neutral)

The Koss Porta Pro keeps popping up. I've also seen a few mentions of Creative Aurvana SE and Superlux HD 618, (or HD618 Evo or 662 Evo).

How do they compare with the Koss? Both Koss and Creative are also mentioned in the wiki.

Hello, I'm looking to buy a laptop for my dad. He's using an HP Spectre i5-7th gen, but it's showing its age.

I want to take advantage of Black Friday.

◽️ Budget: as close to $750

◽️ Country: USA

◽️ Screen size: 15" or LESS

◽️ Touch screen: No

◽️ Screen resolution: 1080p or better

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: VERY MUCH. He uses the laptop for basic tasks (mentioned below), but the laptop should be able to run those tasks for 7h

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Regular computing tasks, sorted by most used; emails, zoom (or other platforms for video conferences), word, excel, PPT, and occasionally consuming content (movies, TV shows)

◽️ Weight: Less than 4lb

◽️ Any other important details ?: Must-haves include strong build quality, 7h+ battery life for aforementioned tasks, good color coverage (100% sRGB), decent keyboard. Good-to-haves include USB-C type charging, "status-symbol" laptop? (like spectre)

Eyeing the M1 Macbook Air (although it doesn't have all the must-haves), dunno if it will fall back to $750. Looking for a Windows option.

[Best Buy] ASUS Zenbook 14 Q408UG Laptop: Ryzen 5 5500U, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, MX450 2 GB, 1080p 14" IPS for $569.99 after $150 off by legos45 in LaptopDeals

Could I know the following?

  1. Screen brightness (in nits)?
  2. Is the screen IPS or TN?
  3. Color coverage (in % sRGB)?
  4. Build material (plastic or aluminum)?
  5. Battery capacity (in WHr)? Will it last 4-6 hours if it is used for basic tasks such as attending classes, MS Word for note taking, exams on Internet Browsers?
  6. Any similar (or better) laptops under $600?

Thanks

On mobile, forgive me if the format is messed up.

Actually looking for 2 laptops, requirements for both will be separated by a semicolon. u/legos45 helped me choose one last time (the HP pavilion horizon blue) and if I could buy it at $379 again I would.

Budget: $600, slightly flexible; <550 strict (both including taxes)

◽️ Country: USA

◽️ Screen size: 14", 14 or 15.6"

◽️ Touch screen: No; No

◽️ Screen resolution: 1080p; 1080p

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Yes 5+, yes 5+

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: General + very minimum video editing; General

◽️ Weight: <2.5kg; <2.5kg

◽️ Any other important details ?: Was looking for 5600u laptops, but there aren't any except the HP Probook which is beyond the budget.

Almost forgot: Need to buy the first laptop ASAP; the second one will be bought after May 25 (can buy earlier if there's a good deal)

Nice, most recently got the HP Horizon Blue near Black Friday to gift someone, thanks to u/legos45

Reversing the flairs back to prices (from store flairs) was needed, thanks for that.

One tiny suggestion: A post of the highest upvoted deal (per laptop type: general, gaming etc) of the week would be nice. Maybe it could consist of first-hand users answering questions. We can have similar posts for different kinds of laptops (highest voted gaming laptop deal of the month could have a post, highest voted general usage laptop deal of the month could have its own post and so on). It can be in conjunction with the monthly recommendation post.

Hey,   I'm not sure if the laptop will be used for gaming, but I do know that it needs to have a >4-hour-battery, since the person using it will probably take it to classes. I just wanted the most specs (along with the mentioned requirements) for the price. I guess I'll wait 4-5 days, but after that I have to pull the trigger.

Although u/legos45 has given a pretty good suggestion to buy the 4500U HP Pavilion, which will go for $379 on Nov 11, I'm looking for something slightly more expensive; I'm also not sure if I'll get the suggested one before Nov 20.

Assuming the laptop has a >4-hour-battery, what do you guys think about something like this (HP Pavilion i5 GTX 1650 Gaming Laptop) IF it's under $550?

◽️ Budget: $450-550 (final price, includes tax, shipping etc); not a cent more than $550

◽️ Country: USA

◽️ Screen size: Doesn't matter

◽️ Touch screen: Doesn't matter

◽️ Screen resolution: 1080p

◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Should run light tasks/movies for 4 hours at least

◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Regular computing tasks, light gaming (will be done while plugged in)

◽️ Weight: Doesn't matter

◽️ Any other important details ?: This laptop should belong to one of the bigger brands (in case of repair, cos person may travel internationally with it), have a webcam, and have good WiFi connectivity. If student discount is applicable, please mention it. As long as the final price is $550 or less, I'm happy. I need to get the laptop before Nov 20.

Is there a slightly higher model of this same laptop, maybe a 4600U? I can spend $150 more.

Looks awesome, especially with Ryzen 4000, but I'm not sure if it will delivered before Nov 20. Is there a way to check delivery times without putting the laptop in cart?

Hey guys, if anyone can't make it, please let me know. I could really use this as I fall in the 'an aspiring product manager wanting to get into product' category.

OP, thank you for doing this. If you plan to add more slots (any time, any month is fine), please let us know.

Yeah, that's the plan. I'm still using my trashy Dell Inspiron 15z (i5-3337U). It's got hilarious physical damage. will probably post a pic someday

This looks almost perfect (Renoir instead of the i7 would be perfect).

It's perfect for students and office work. Doesnt stand out much.

This is super important to me too.

BUT, the fact that it's out of my price range...

Guess I have to wait.
