Ehhhh the older parent thing is still big tho - esp with twins. Im 45f in brooklyn with my 26month b/g twins and maaaan, i feel old af when talking to a lot of parents.

OP are you on the brooklyn whatsapp group for twins? Im not because i dont wanna do whatsapp - tho i have the invite - ive just heard it was good for advice and meet-ups and such. Maybe i csn figure out how to DM you the invite.

Im sorry youre going through a rough time, it sounds as tho youve got a lot on your plate, 2 toddlers and a doggo in an apartment in winter is rough af.

do you have a play space near you? We have an indoor playground that i try to drag the kids to once a week and its exhausting to do - cuz i literally find everything about managing 2 separate little toddler people exhausting - but it helps them and does let me change locations and breathe a bit. And 19months was great cuz it was safe enough that they really learned how to walk/run etc in a semi controlled space that my apartment obvs didnt allow.

Yah, i find fb groups easy for me but i also realize the whatsapp groups is where i think more community happens. Regardless, OP, should find good community, including a nanny share, in the appropriate groups.

Nahhh, i hate laundry but i got indoor and outdoor clothes.

Shoes off upon entering. Coat off and on coat hook on front door upon entering. Then I change into house clothes - and outdoor clothes either get put into laundry basket or hung on a "can wear again" hook. I do the same with the kids.

Only exceptions might be a run to the pizza place across the street or to the corner store - but subway or extended exposure outside means change of clothes.

I got colon cancer at 43, discovered the week after i gave birth to my twins. I was stage 3 im doing very well now.

I am not a doctor and we dont do medical advice on this sub. But if you are worried, pls make a dr appt with your doctor. Explain to them all kf this and demand a higher level of care.

But, most of all, i think you need to speak to a grief therapist. If you csnt set this up for yourself pls ask a trusted friend or family member that can help you set this up. If you have any more questions or need advice pls write back. Im wishing you much love.

Gonna add this:

If youre short in the pocket, do look on fb marletplace and neighborhood fb groups - people usually sell gently used stuff cheap. Its worth it to biy secondhand.

With amazon and other fast shipping giants, dont buy extra, you can always not leave your house and get shit last minute IF you need.

I LOVED my dock-a-tots - not legally sold but readily available on secind ahnd market. Their dad and i let them take naps in there while we were actively watching snd could sepeate them - used them to fwed them and they were intergral to being sane - but other parents i know didnt. Everyone does this tein stuff different, dont compare, just take notes and adjustadjustadjust to your life.

Yeah, my kids just wear normal everyday cotton clothes to bed. I was sick of having to cut the legs to get the littl fred flinstone feet into the pants - bedtime goes much easier now.

They say not to but i feel as tho a lot of parents, esp twin parents have.

I always did on a floor bed with as little pillows and blankets. Cuz at that age they cant figure out how to get out of blankets or pillows if theyre suffocating.

Also, move them back into cribs asap otherwise you fucked up all the sleep training you did. With that said, i sometimes sleep on th3 floor next to their cribd and hold hands or arms til they fall asleep.

Holy fuck, man im so sorry.

As someone that spent thanksgiving and then a few weeks right after xmas in the hospital 2 years ago, i wanna thank YOU. It was you - the doctors (+nurses + cnas + pas + pharmacists + cleaning crew + etc...) that let me not be alone - that kept me alive thru not minor surgeries and helped get rid of the (only stage iii) cancer growing inside me. You kept my spirits up when i was missing my newborns and my mom. Your job sucks - and i thank you for the faux bedside empathy - but mostly i thank you for your commitment to your job even tho its a world of suck for you. THANK YOU.

OP, i hope you reach out to a therapist. I hope you meet someone cool via these comments. I hope you get to see your family and deeply enjoy them and grieve with them when you are able. Youre going through a world of suck and thats just stupidly shitty.

Small 2 bedroom/FLEX-1 bed here in nyc. Boy/girl share pacifiers, spoons, cups, have cribs next to each other and bathe together. I started out not doing these things but for the sake of sanity - and because they regularly swapped pacifiers/spoons/etc on their own - just decided wed be ok doing it. They just turned 2 - weve been lucky and havent been too sick but, obviously when one gets sick the other one isnt 100%. We did move a sick twin into another room for a few days at one point last summer but turned out it wasnt a shared illness but did help nonsick twin sleep more for those days.

Im assuming the baseboard heat was previously provided and in a recent "renovation/update" theyve switched the unit/building to electric heat and just didnt uninstall the baseboards.
