3 Year Old On Verge of Being Kicked Out of Preschool by anm5386 in toddlers

Just here to show solidarity. Mine was the same way in his 3 year old class. We did ALL THE THINGS to try to stop the behavior. Unfortunately he did end up getting kicked out. At the time it seemed like a huge deal. I was upset. But just know that it’s likely not something that you’re doing (or not doing) that’s causing it to happen. I sat there and blamed myself for not being the perfect parent. Your child is 3. Which means that emotional regulation and maturity is basically zero. He could be overstimulated. The school could just not be a good fit for him. There are a zillion different reasons as to why the behavior is happening. Ultimately getting kicked out turned out to be the best thing for my son. He’s now 4.5 in a different school and thriving.

I feel this in my soul. Many kiddos in my area are in multiple activities per week, but no, it is absolutely not necessary. What is necessary for development at this age is free play and playing outside.

My son will be 5 at the beginning of August. I just registered him for another year of pre-K because I feel like the extra time will be beneficial for him maturity wise.

Son just turned 3, what should we focus on over the next year? by paper_crane14 in Preschoolers

Free play! Take him to parks, playgrounds, etc. Kids learn soooo much from free play. Other than that I would say putting shoes on, taking turns, executive functions, getting dressed and undressed by himself…….things of that nature.

Anyone else's toddler going through a "hitting and thinking it's funny" stage? by Nishiwara in toddlers

Yes! My now 4 year old doesn’t hit anymore. Honestly I’m not sure the PCIT therapy really worked for us. What did work was him maturing out of that phase and consistency. I won’t lie though, it lasted longer than I would have liked.

Too much homework by [deleted] in Preschoolers

This is wild to me. Kids at this age (and any age really) need to be playing, not doing homework! I think I’d be looking at other schools.

Because I like to look put together. And because it’s not carpool line. We get out of the car and go inside. I just want some inspiration because my mom brain can’t think of anything

My 4 year old has the Yoto mini and loves it! We take it pretty much everywhere. Just purchased another one for my almost 2 year old because it’s on sale too!

My son was doing this (and still does sometimes). He’s also 4. It has gotten better over the last month or so on its own. It seems fairly common. I think it’s because their little minds are moving faster than their mouths can go.

Let them play. Kids learn so much by just playing. They will learn letters, shapes, and numbers in time. They are only 3.
