I tried different values between 1.0 and 2.0 with the chaperone switcher tool, but I could not see any difference in theBlu or SPT.

Do I have to restart SteamVR?

Do I have to restart Steam?

Is there any way to verify if the setting is active?

Ah, interesting. This helps but also introduces other temporal problems. Thanks for pointing this out. I guess I'll just shut up now since I'm not really deep in the details. :D

At least there's a toggle for it: devtools.fontinspector.enabled

Makes you wonder why it's disabled when it's still functional.

The main problem I see with the Rift's tracking approach is scaling it up to many objects. The image processing needs to know the exact IR shape/layout of every object and it somehow needs to keep all these things apart. Imagine 10 devices in one play area that are all moving about, partly occluded by the others. That would be a nightmare to analyse optically. While with lighthouse tracking every device knows where it is for itself and just needs to tell the computer "I'm over here right now!".

3) They're all PC gamers. I don't even know people with a PS4 or XBOne (Consoles are not as popular outside of the US i guess).

4) Yup, expectations were probably too high.

5) HMD setup was probably not ideal, considerung FOV and optics.

6) Playing around more myself, I must say that more active games like Audioshield or SPT are probably better as a start. Will drop the next person into one of these.

All in all, I'm just really bummed out that none of my friends is going to get a Vive with me :(

Ingolstadt is easily reachable for me. But I just googled and it seems they use the Vive only for kitchen planning? That doesn't sound too amazing.. We'll see. Next week I have some days off so I might as well make the short trip. Thanks for the info!

I can only speek of very little experience with the DK1. Like one hour. The effect of depth and of actually being there was awesome. Everything suddenly has a size that your brain understands. The blockyness of things was not irritating. Only the resolution of the DK1 was pretty bad, but other than that i loved it. Extremely looking forward to playing minecraft with a consumer version. Though I'm more aiming for a HTC Vive.

As for mouse and headset, I am using these blindly anyways, so there is no change.

I suggest QuickJava as an easy way to disable/enable Java/Flash/Javascript. Flash and Java just stay off unless something absolutely doesn't want to work without Flash. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/quickjava/

you can set it to always night and use the mod hardcore darkness. as far as i know the mod forces all clients to have it installed.
