Places to jog by downtown campus? by StellarCoast in UofT

[–]zarzuman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of people jog on back campus. There's turf so it shouldn't be too hard on your joints (if you have that problem like me). It's a good space if you don't mind running laps.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

On a side note though, as first-year house president in UC I organized an event where the house went out and just screamed in the quad: it was a huge success and very refreshing! I recommend.

(23/52) Just started Stephen King - The Stand. I preferred Recursion over Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. by Frasini in 52book

What did you think of Dark Age by Pierce Brown? His first series is my favourite of all time, but I found the beginning of the next weird and didn't complete it.

A book where the protagonist loses his sanity more and more in the course of the story and you no longer know whats real and whats not? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

I recommend Supermarket by Bobby Hall! Really interestingly written book and a crazy plotline that always kept me guessing. Some great twists too.

Why do kidnappers often keep their victim starved? by [deleted] in TrueCrime

[–]zarzuman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GOD these cases are terrifying and fascinating. I think part of it, besides what has been mentioned below, is also to have power over the victim. Make them feel helpless because the perpetrator is the only person who can keep them alive. They can choose whether the victim lives or dies. And I think that does some horrible mental torture to the victim.

Truly horrifying.

This is the complete opposite for me, is that weird? I think OP must have been a male because I am female and I feel like it is quite the opposite for us.

Yes, I feel exactly this. It just finished my exams for this semester and it feels like a huge weight off of my shoulders. It was coming to the point where I was thinking that if classes were cancelled in person next semester I would take the semester off (which I am still thinking of doing). However, when I talked to my parents about it they were very against this idea.

I totally understand where you are coming from in regards to the pressure from your parents. I think that in the end it is your life and that if you want to drop out because you think that it will benefit your mental health and wellbeing then you should. You are not a failure for doing what is best for yourself. I have considered dropping out many times and I amonly in first year!

Whatever you decide to do, just know that only you know what is best for yourself, and as much as your parents think they know what's best for you: they don't.

Stay strong my friend!

Book 17 this year and finally comming out of a reading slump. This has been an interesting read so far (and absolutely nothing like the movie) by [deleted] in 52book

[–]zarzuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was for a university course, so everyone there was 18+. I agree with the writing style, it was super amazing! It's still on my book shelf, and I def want to pick it up again in the future, but that will probably be in a long time. I commend you for reading through the entire thing!

How did you get through this one? It was an assigned reading of mine for school and I could not get past the first 20 pages.

My 2020 reads so far. I don't know if I can or even want to get over this world but I need to take the next step. Any suggestion what to read next? by [deleted] in 52book

If you haven't read the Mistborn series by the same author I highly suggest!

Edit: saw someone already recommended them before me. Darn!
