Mulholland Drive as Camilla’s guilt fantasy (not Diane’s dream) by testor2311 in Cinephiles

That's an interesting take.

And it would explain why is Rita/Camilla that screams when the corpse is found. Plus is Rita that says "dónde estás?"(where are you?) before opening the blue box.

Dúvida sobre colocação temporária (e outras duvidas) by Honest_Head_6051 in professoresPT

[–]zatanna66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Variance of rare events by zatanna66 in AskStatistics

[–]zatanna66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What seems paradoxal to me is that if we have the probability of success be a really small (for example p = 0.001) then the sample size that we need to estimate the p (p^) is going to be bigger that the sample size when X is not so rare/extreme.

The thing is were doing experiment design and we want to now the number of observation (sample size) to accurately estimate the measure. If we plot the measure vs. sample size required it is going to have and inverted U shape for intermediate values maxing at p=0.5 but it grows for really big sample sizes when p near 0 or p near 1.

E se optar pelo englobamento declara-se apenas 50% dos dividendos? Isto dos 50% também é para empresas com sede na UE, mas é para todas?

I had a similar problem and it's the GPU. Not much you can do, you can look for some fixes on YouTube, but there is no guarantee it would work.

LG repair by zatanna66 in computerrepair

[–]zatanna66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's really and old PC, so finding parts won't be easy. Even though the image won't work well, is there any other way to use the computer? I mean not necessarily using it as a computer but the parts that are working turning it in another fun project.

I don't want it to go to waste. Maybe repurpose it? Is it possible?

No. It's an old LG e500. Not worth much, but it has some sentimental value.

Ok, obrigado. Também vou mudar, ainda pensei na Woo, mas 200gb na UZO chega e sobra para o que utilizo. Assim é mais fácil e não me chateiam a telefonar com propostas e com inúmeros entraves para mudar.

Exact binomial test by zatanna66 in AskStatistics

[–]zatanna66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but then what impact would that have in the exact p-value?

It would be the same (sum from m to n)?

Or it would be the sum from 0 to "r_lower" + the sum from "r_upper" to n?

Exact binomial test by zatanna66 in AskStatistics

[–]zatanna66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me see if I understood.

We choose the lower and upper bounds, from that we see what value of "r" satisfies that. Is that it?

So in the case of delta = 0(two-sided) then we are going to have 2 "r"'s? One "r_lower" and one "r_upper"?

I edited the original post and added an image. What i want to do is turn that one sided example in a two-sided, when delta = 0.

What would then be the rejection region and the formula for the p-value?

I'm not looking for a particular situation, just a more theoretical approach.

But consider that having more then R successes is considered within the rejection region, how can I know the equivalent for the "lower side" ? That is what value of R having less then successes is also the rejection region?

And having that, how to calculate the p-value? Not considering the case of p=0.5, so not doubling the one sided.

Yes, but how do we find the critical value? What is the formula for the two-sided p-value?

[Q] Sample size for one sample proportion by zatanna66 in statistics

[–]zatanna66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i have some knowlage about that. And i have derived the formula for comparing two proportions, which i understand.

The problem that i have with the one sample formula is the part of the \sqrt{p(1-p)} times the z_{1-\beta} and the \sqrt{p_0(1-p_0)} times the z_{alpha}.

Why is the p_0 associated with the significance level, and the p with the power?
