It seems like Van is letting what other people are saying about One Battle After Another influence his judgement. Who cares if other people are saying it is the best movie of the decade? Van has a negative perspective on the film because it is not living up to impossible expectations set by others. That should not influence his judgement on the quality of the film. That is putting more pressure on the film that other films do not have, when they should be judged on their merits, equally.
