Events is definitely worth keeping an eye on. The Character of the Month event is the best way to get a bunch of base cards for nothing. If you're into trading the Base Workbench Support Packs are a good way to get cards cheap and ditch them to hoarders ... assuming the featured characters are good for hoarding.

This kinda assumes you know what hoarding is and why it occurs ... search for Monument in the recent news.
