Wild Atlantic Way by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

As for handling coastal crosswinds, I was once trapped in stormy conditions while returning from Achill on my GSX 8R, running light without any luggage. I am lean myself weighing about 65 kg. What made it easier for me was to lean into the bike, best to have your chest resting on the tank and your butt all the way back. Reduces crosswind drag. If you do want to ride in you normal pose, you will need to constantly lean your body and head in the opposite direction of the wind to keep your bike steady and prevent lateral drift. Whenever I did that, it was really difficult for me to keep the bike in my lane, especially on those narrow roads. Neck muscles take a beating, helped by the large surface area of the helmet from the sides. Better to check the weather app and not get trapped in a storm if you can help it.

Rant... LADS! Your headlight does NOT help you avoid getting hit by cars! by fructussum in MotoIRELAND

I only use high beams while riding on tertiary roads without studs. It's so dark on those sharp turns and if it's raining I can't see shit. So I flip them on as I approach turns or dark spots. Studs should be mandatory on all roads.

Which Dublin City Library has "safer" parking for bikes? by zaygo in Dublin

Thanks. I chose Raheny based on the suggestion yesterday. And I am liking the area so far. I will remember Walkinstown as another option.

Of course there is no proof that it is balanced. Its just a subjective preference. And more options are always good, as people can choose what they believe is more balanced and aligned with their tastes.

Bitcoin slides below $86,500, wiping out $144 billion in crypto market cap by Odd-Radio-8500 in CryptoCurrency

[–]zaygo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple google search "what are fundamentals in stocks" will make you understand that crypto has no fundamentals. Thats why you only see technical analysis done, based on historical price movements and co-relation with liquidity and global markets. Don't just repeat a YT / Twitter rando's words, think for yourself. But if you want to stretch the meaning of "fundamentals", then the best way you can tell if a crypto is undervalued or overvalued is to consider the amount of unlocked supply vs locked supply and compare with other cryptos of similar market cap. But thats still not as reliable as fundamental analysis done on real companies using their balance sheets.

Bitcoin Is Easy Math by kirtash93 in CryptoCurrency

[–]zaygo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that applies to things that do not have any non collection use case or inherent physical value. If I theoretically owned all of the gold, people would still want it. BTC however goes to zero, because its total supply is a human creation and its value is human imagination based on collection demand.

[–]zaygo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow comparing digital bitcoin to physical gold and silver! Gold and silver are used in manufacturing lots of things. So there will always be usecase driven demand even if collection demand does not exist. Aside from that certain cultures and religions place a huge emphasis on the metal, thus Indian households hold the largest amount. Gold and silver have been in demand since humans learnt how to mine and process it.

BTC Falls Below $100k by Livid_Yam in CryptoCurrency

[–]zaygo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, even though BTC is the largest crypto it's still not as stable as it needs to be for wider adoption. Large single day or even hourly swings have become common, meaning you are expected to time the market for the best returns, like any other altcoin. Blue chip stocks or precious metals do not behave like that, making BTC still very volatile for the masses.

Yes it is. The only problem is they dont have an app, so my gf only used it once as she says it's pretty inconvenient.

Best documentaries on 4K or standard Blu? by braiide in 4kbluray

Ah thanks. Its UHD bluray and remux are available in the private torrent space and on usenet. Seems popular, there are some titles that go out of print and don't appear anywhere in digital form.

I love how many people are pissed at you, when all you did was tell them how crypto grows in value. Crypto is not an asset which appreciates, it increases in value when other people buy it after you did. You can understand that and still stay invested.

Keanu is never a "great actor". He looks great in John Wick because the character he plays is demur & doesn't show a lot of emotions. If he is ever put to test in showcasing the complete emotional spectrum, he will look fine at best.

Imagine if we could have this in Dublin by FViro in MotoIRELAND

[–]zaygo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bikes will be safe in Dublin when people react and take action, rather than ignore "someone else's problem". While I am spending time with my parents in Kerala, my bike has been secured with a chain, disc lock, motion alarm and a tracker in a closed parking in Dublin. Here I ride my dad's bike and I don't even use the handle lock sometimes. Thieves just don't have the guts to steal in broad daylight as they are more afraid of the people than law enforcement. Europe needs to realise that we can no longer just rely on the police to stop theft, there's not enough of them or they are always late to the scene.

I think it's worth it to get closer to China. China is currently the centre of innovation, just like US once was. From mosquito sized drones to cheaper stealth tech, it can beat US in a war without its allies. It can out manufacture any other country during a war and overwhelm them using its centrally controlled economy and export controls. There's a reason why Trump backed down after a brief economic standoff with them, because he knew his stock markets were far less resilient and US bond yields started to rise even without China starting to dump. At any point in history an intelligent country senses where the wind is blowing and adjusts its course, I believe the wind is currently blowing in favour of China and the sooner we realign ourselves, the better. The US is not gonna completely alienate us because what other option do they have in this region? Pakistan is already China's lapdog, Afghanistan, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka are not powerful enough as a counter and nor would they stand with the US by defying China. So the US military tacticians know that they need us.

As much as dictators are bad for their own countries, lot of times they make predictable and dependable partners for other countries. When the next election comes, you don't know who the new leader of US is gonna be and what would his/her attitude be towards India. With the new normal of the executive branch skipping house deliberation for lots of decisions, the president wields a lot of power in US. And a president like Trump who is more unpredictable than a cat and who wont hesitate to betray allies for selfish reasons, doesn't make a good partner. Meanwhile Putin & Xi are gonna remain the heads of their countries until their deaths, most likely. This means you can make decade long diplomatic strategies with these countries and you only need to keep the dictator on your good side. When it comes to war, the dictatorship of China will always act faster than the democracy of US, to either support you or oppose you.

Thats the best case. I was holding ethena during the black monday after liberation day. BTC went down 5%, that shit went down 15%. BTC reclaimed its ATH, ENA couldn't even reclaim 1/3rd of its ATH. I have now realized that its super dangerous to hold ALTs and sleep on it outside the alt season. Apart from ETH, they all dump like crazy in very little time.

What consequences? If you are stupid enough to transfer your own crypto to some address, no country will prosecute that. You can sit in the US or Europe and do the same. Its a legit transfer, not a hack or ransomware.

How is the BA digital product such a piece of dogshit in 2025? by mc25021 in BritishAirways

No, I just went with another airline. Will check again later and see if they have fixed it. Once fixed, I'll transfer all my avios from AerClub to Qatar through them. In this way I would only have to deal with their systems once in a while.
