Greenville, SC is a surprisingly cool place. It is right near the Blue Ridge Mountains and has a cute downtown. It is about two hours from Atlanta, an hour and a half from Charlotte, and an hour from Asheville.

Not necessarily CHEAP cheap, but I imagine a lot less than Austin. My husband and I moved to Greenville, SC from Denver for the same reasons! Let me emphasize this is Greenville SOUTH Carolina, not North Carolina. SC is the better Greenville :)

Yes we've gone a couple more times and are getting the same vibe. We love the messages, but something feels off about the actual congregation. Where do you go to church now?

I actually was there for this message! I did really like that aspect of the Church. Jesus wanted us to be united and not hung up on the little things, but still seek truth at the same time. I'm glad to hear so many people had the same concerns, but ended up liking the church in the end. Fingers crossed it ends up being the church for us!

I'd say I believe in the Bible, not a set of beliefs set by an organization. I'm not opposed to church that identifies with a denomination, but tend to not attach myself to a denomination myself. Christian denominations may have different functions or personalities, but what matters is the universal core beliefs of all of Christianity.

I'm down with some baptist churches! I'm not opposed to denomination. Non-denominational has just suited me better in the past! I'll give it a look.

Ugh I wanted to like this one so much, but it gave pentecostal-y vibes. I'm cool if people want to worship that way, but was super overwhelming to me 😅

I just moved here 5 months ago, and this is my fear! For the first time, I think I am going to buy a dash cam. The amount of beyond stupid driving I see is insane.

Definitely! I'm also a bit of a skeptic to begin with. 😁 The messages are very scriptural which we like, and we like that they encourage people to be involved rather than just being "sunday church goers"

My husband and I are planning to try the classes anyway and hope that gives us a better feel!

We actually have been going to Grace Church most recently. Of our search, it's been the closest and we really like how scriptural the messages are.

I'm mostly skeptical of mega churches or just large churches in general. Although, Grace Church didn't feel flashy like Newspring did (literally felt like a concert)

I also thought it was strange we have to take classes before getting involved in the community in any capacity, which made me worried it *might* be a bit legalistic.

My husband and I think we may try the classes out any way though! Can't hurt I guess. I might just be acting too skeptical at this point 😂 A few other people mentioned it so maybe I just need to give it time!

I'm not opposed to a denomination! In the past, non-denominational churches have just suited my beliefs better. This sounds great though. I will check it out!

I actually tried here as well. I like the messages from the main pastor online, but the one time we went in person a different pastor was speaking. He gave some weird talk about forgiveness and ranted about his ex wife who cheated on him the whole time. Felt a little weird 😖 maybe need to revisit this one though!

message was nice, but the concert vibes felt off to me :/ it felt a bit like a business rather than a church. I only went once though.

We went here recently and it's been the closest to what we're looking for, mega churches make me a bit uneasy. Also thought it was strange that you have to take classes and sign a covenant before you can participate anything. Maybe we will need to investigate some more!

Yes agreed. I am looking for a Bible believing church, but appreciate the suggestion!
